Even if the movie takes one or two liberties with actual events, Rami Malik’s compelling performance absolutely deserved an Oscar in a stunningly moving film. And I think it’s just hilarious that the actor playing Brian May looks more like Brian May (at that age) than Brian May himself! Well done, Lia and Viki.

Mike Meyers ironically portrayed the music producer who fought Queen against Bohemian Rhapsody because in Wayne's World, he and Dana Carvey really put that song on the map for many people.

Absolutely fantastic reaction, ladies. You made me fall in love with this movie all over again. If I may make a suggestion, please watch the Queen medly from the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert performed by the band Extreme. Most bands played a Queen song and a couple of thier own, but Extreme chose to perform a medley of Queen songs, none of thier own, and the crowd response was very much like the response from the Live Aid show. It is well worth the watch.

Cool fact this movie has a cameo that not many people realise is one, when Freddie is on the phone to Mary during their first tour in America and he eyes a trucker who he is implied to have a one night stand with is actually Adam Lambert who has been touring with Brian and Roger for over a decade

You guys should try to find the clip of the concert at the end of the movie next to the real thing. They filmed it pretty much screen for scene, second for second. It’s amazing.

The Live Aid part was the first thing that was filmed. They all humped into the deep end of the pool with that...and it was FANTASTIC! Rami Malek won the Oscar for Best Actor...so well deserved! The record executive who hated the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" was played by Mike Myers (Austin Powers). It was Myers's movie 'Wayne's World' that charted the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the 1990s due to a very funny scene that Freddie was able to see before the film was released. The film didn't have the rights, so somehow they got into contact with guitarist Brian May, who got it to Freddie, Freddie loved the scene and gave his blessing for the film to use the song. It helped with Queen's resurgence. Brian May earned his doctorate in astrophysics and was knighted by King Charles in the New Years Honours 2023 Roger Taylor was made an OBE by Queen Elizabeth in 2020 and dedicated his honor to the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. John Deacon basically has retired and has been so since Freddie's death. He has made a few appearances but largely stays out of the public eye. When Queen was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (along with other like honors) Freddie was represented by his mother, who the band watches over.

The sad thing about this movie is how they took liberties with the history but had to, to make the movie work. Some of the more critical ones: 1) Freddy was friends with the lead singer of smile and was recommended to take over. 2) Freddy had AIDS years after Live Aid. 3) Queen never broke up. They were on a cold streak and outcasts. They performed in South Africa during Apartheid when most artists wouldn't. 4) Bob Geldof wanted to keep Queen out of Live Aid like he kept out The Kinks. He felt they were rock dinosaurs. The most amazing thing is how right they got Live Aid and had Sam capture Freddy's mannerisms.

Being a Queen fan myself, I didn't really like this movie, except Rami Malek as Freddie was the best thing I got from it. There were just some historical inaccuracies I just didn't like about it, like "We Will Rock You" was a big hit in 1977, not 1980.

Hi Lia & Viki, I love your reactions, channel & i'm subscribed. It's great you've seen this biopic of the GOAT band & GOAT lead singer, I enjoyed your reaction to it!! Rami Malek totally deserved his 3 big awards for his portrayal of the legendary Freddie Mercury and the lads playing Roger, Brian & John did fantastic jobs too. I love this movie, but as epic as it is; it unfortunately has a few errors in it... Like, Freddie was friends with Roger and Brian before they started Queen together, Fat Bottomed Girls was from 1978 and not 1974 as seen in the movie. Same with We Will Rock You - it was from 1977 and not 1980. The band NEVER split up at any point, certainly not because of Freddie's solo album, they took a well needed break from eachother on 1983 and it was pre-agreed anyway. And lastly, Freddie found out that he has AIDS a couple of years after Live Aid. Other than that, it's a great telling of Queen's & Freddie's story. There can be only 1 Queen & Freddie.

I think you girls should check out the dirt next it’s another biopic about the band Mötley Crüe. The dirt in my opinion was so much better than Bohemian Rhapsody. I mean I didn’t hate this film but I didn’t like it, it just was not that good because there were certain aspects of it that was not 100% true to the true story about Queen. And the guy who played Freddie Mercury I mean he was OK but I wouldn’t say that his performance was Oscar worthy. And the way they decided to end this movie was shitty they should’ve had the movie end by Freddie going out in a blaze of glory by going in the studio to record the song the show must go on. Which I don’t understand why that song was not featured in this film which is bullshit because that’s one of my favorite Queen songs ever because it has one of Freddy’s best vocal performances ever. I mean he was looking into the face of death performing that song. Because the true story is when he recorded that song he was ill he was sick and his body was failing him but the one thing that was not failing him was his spirit his fighting spirit was stronger than ever. And his band mates was telling him you don’t have to do it Freddy but he said no I’m gonna do it. So he downed a class of vodka and he went and did it while facing his own mortality. And another thing the film did not get right was when Freddie told his bandmates about him getting Aids before live Aid. Because the truth is he told them after live aid. It’s just stupid that they wanted to turn it into a cookie cutter feel good generic bland movie. Instead of making it big and epic and really diving into the reality of the band and Freddie’s life and the reality of AIDS. Instead they decided to turn it into a fucking cookie cutter greatest hits movie. Because all those other things would’ve been way more interesting instead of what the film ended up becoming. I mean this movie is just nothing more but a biopic for the fucking hot topic crowd. And also a film for all the Queen fans who just knows the greatest hits and knows the bare minimum about the true history about the band. And also about Freddie Mercury himself. This movie was just very generic instead of being Rated R and gritty and epic like it originally was gonna be. But Brian May and Roger Taylor out of all people scraped that idea and instead wanted it to be what it became so that everybody can go home feeling better about themselves. Instead of introducing them to the reality of the history of the band, and the man of the hour himself and his life and his debauchery and more of his battle with aids and the dark reality of it. And another thing the movie fucked up was this bullshit about Freddie being conflicted about his sexuality. That’s bullshit he was never conflicted about his sexuality Freddie was a very confident man never conflicted about anything. And also this bullshit about Freddie leaving the band and then going off doing solo projects and then begging the band to take him back to do live aid never happened. All this shit was just made up just to add some drama and dramatic affect because according to the directors telling the truth about what happened is boring to them. I say no the truth would’ve been way more interesting and way much more impactful.
