I love boiled Okra as well... can't tell ya how much I've boiled out of my garden.... besides just plain.... I like to cut it up, boil it until just a tiny bit of liquid is left, then add cumin, chili powder, some garlic and some salsa like Pace Picante Sauce...then boil for just a little longer.. it becomes like a gravy to the okra, per se.... love your videos

My dad would only let us boil the the tiny okra, no longer than 3" to 3 1/2" long! It was so tender. My parents loved okra this way--we ate them because back then, you ate what you were served (not like today's kids who do what they want). It seems like we always had leftovers that we fed to our dog. He ate it--he loved table scraps!

My Grandmothers and my Mama always cooked okra with the peas and butter beans. Usually about 4 to 5 pods per pot . It adds so much flavor and thickens the vegetable juices. It also has many health benefits. I just keep some frozen that I buy at the store. Bought fresh, it does not keep very long. I like it fried, too, but I don't eat much fried food any more.

This is my favorite way to make okra. But I more steam it by using about half the amount of water she did. I add salt and a little butter. It really only takes like 5 mins. I boil it until the water is gone and I can hear it frying in the butter. I find that shaking the pan instead of using a utensil helps prevent it from busting okra. But she isn’t lying this is the best way to make okra and get all the natural delicious flavors out of the okra.
