Much love from Sweden. I have a friend who went to South Africa. Drove out in no where into the bush. Found a small town and a bar. Had a few beers. And the bartender when he got to know his origin, refused to accept payment for his beers. Because of the scandinavian volunteer corps. Huge respect to you and your peoples!

Keep what you have as it will soon be destroyed, as you backed the ANC which has totally destroyed South Africa. Each and everyone has respect and love for their own culture, so as Afrikaners we also suffered tremendously under the greedy British who killed our people for the riches of our land. We were treated as less than animals, spit upon and left to die like dogs. Farms burnt down, my own family died from hunger. I wonder how many of our South Africans REALLY KNOW OUR TRUE HISTORY OF HOW THE BRITISH DESTROYED our people and cultures??. Just to get their greedy hands on our minerals and get rich while our own people suffered and died. After all, the so-called queenies and their palaces must be lavishly be provided for in luxury. What a misconception and idiotic fable about queens, kings, princes and princesses in a modern world!!! Stupid fairytales!!! People are suffering, they are hungry and the world is techno.

Why wouldn't you? Boers never had anything against blacks. That's the truth. I consider myself a white nationalist, but I mean no harm to anyone. I want all people in the world to have a piece of land for themselves. Blacks can have a large part of SA. But if whites want to have some areas for themselves, it is ok. They have lived here for centuries, and they built a lot of great stuff. I think they are entitled to self-determination. I wish nothing but the best of luck to everyone else, and from me they will never suffer any harm.

Massive respect to Afrikaners and I apologise on behalf of my Great Uncle who fought in the Anglo-Boer war, led there by a lying British government seeking diamonds and imperial greed. Is Emily Hobhouse remembered there? She did quite a lot and when she saw the camps came back to England and told people what was being done in their name. I wish history had played out differently, our peoples should never have been enemies. I just realised I hadn't mentioned that Hobhouse was born in Cornwall in a place called St. Ives and I was born only about 50 miles away in Devon.

Beautiful, emotive song. I'm only half Afrikaans and hardly speak the language anymore and live in the cold, grey land of the English now, but this song brought me close to tears. I recall the tales my father would tell me of his grandparents' and great grandparents' experience in the Boer War. Apparently his great grandmother hit the English colonel who came to commandeer her dairy and he packed her and the children and the black workers off to a concentration camp the next day. So the story goes.

Translation: On a mountain in the night We lie in the dark and wait In the mud and the blood As rain and streepsak clings to me And my house and my farm were burnt to the ground so they could capture us But those flames and fires now burn deep deep within me. De La Rey, De La Rey can you come and lead the Boers ? De La Rey, De La Rey General, General we will fall around you as one. General De La Rey. Hear those Khakis as they laugh A handful of us against their massive force With our backs to the cliffs of the mountains They think its over for us But the heart of a farmer is deeper and wider, they shall soon come to see On a horse he comes, the lion of West Transvaal De La Rey, De La Rey can you come and lead the Boers ? De La Rey, De La Rey General, General we will fall around you as one. General De La Rey. x2 Because my wife and my child are in a camp dying, And the Khakis are walking over a nation that will rise again De La Rey, De La Rey can you come and lead the Boers ? De La Rey, De La Rey General, General we will fall around you as one. General De La Rey.

I spent two and a half years in South Africa many years ago and I found within six months I could hold conversations easily with people in Afrikaans. It is quite similar in structure to Dutch (which I learned at school) and in some ways similar to English. I translated the video lyrics and hopefully I did a decent job.

Towards the end of the Anglo-Boer war a handful of Boers kept fighting against the full might of the British Empire. Their farms and homes burnt to ash, their wives and children dying in concentration camps... 82'742 Boers against 346'693 British soldiers. In times like these, legends are made... On a mountain at night, we lie in darkness.. and wait. In the mud and the blood I lie cold, knapsack and raincoat stuck to my skin. My house and my farm, burnt to coals in pursuit of our defeat But those flames and that fire now burn deep, deep within me De la Rey, De la Rey will you come and lead the Boers? De la Rey, Dela Rey General, General, as one, we will fall in behind you, General De la Rey Hear the khakis that laugh - a handful of us against your great force But the mountains lie here against our backs - they think its over.. The heart of a Boer, it lies deeper and wider - they haven't seen it yet On a horse he comes galloping, the lion of the west-Transvaal De la Rey, De la Rey will you come and lead the Boers? De la Rey, Dela Rey General, General, as one, we will fall in behind you, General De la Rey Because my wife and my child are lying in a camp and wasting away While the British jackboot walks over a nation that will rise again De la Rey, De la Rey will you come and lead the Boers? De la Rey, Dela Rey General, General, as one, we will fall in behind you, General De la Rey General, General, will you come and rescue us? My best attempt at a translation, I hope was able to do this magnificent song justice :)
