@@user-md3is4dq2d You can find tons of images and resources on it on the subreddit /r/magnetfishing lot of people find junk, metal scrap, bikes, knives, fishing gear, but sometimes people find things like grenades so it can be serious stuff.

Dude I literally just found one in the woods and it just needed a couple of the screws tightened up and to be oiled. The blade is completely dull and looks to have been used as a bowl scraper at one point I just threw a new Edge on it and now I'm carrying it LOL

There's a similar vid about the AUS8 Rat1 owned by a soldier on two tours of Afghanistan. It was used really hard and the tip was snapped off. Along with other personal items it was sent back home to his buddy who took it apart, cleaned off all the 'desert-dust', lubricated it, re-assembled it, re-profiled the blade and then gave it back to the soldier to continue using. It's easy to dismiss budget knives as cheaply made but that Rat1 is probably still going strong. The same seems to be true of the Boker you have here.

paul greenwood I carried a cheap Schrade folder for nearly 15 years as an EDC knife and it’s still going strong..my friend gave it to me years ago around Christmas time..I went to Walmart with him while he was doing a little shopping and he ended up buying a pack of 6 for just over $20 to give out as so cheap Christmas gifts..I still have that knife and it’s still in pretty good shape but I’ve long retired it for much better and much more expensive knives..though I still carry one of my cheap knives to work with me at times because I really don’t care if I lose a knife that was $20 or less..it would kill me to lose one of my expensive knives

There's a reason why it's called a Kalashnikov. Both the AK-47, and the Boker last forever. I heard a story about a soldier in Afghanistan talking to a soldier about his AK-47. Apparently he didn't know he had to oil it, or otherwise scrape the carbon buildup out of the chamber. What he ended up doing was telling him to tie a knot at the end of his shoe lace, dip it in motor oil, and run it through the barel a couple of times every other month to maintain it. The Afghan thought it was overkill!

I carried one every day as my EDC for 11 or 12 years and absolutely loved it. I have never had a knife so comfortable in my pocket as this knife. The width and length are perfect. I'm actually buying another one next week because no other knife has been able to take its place as my EDC, and I've literally missed it every day since I haven't had it.

I just got my Boker AK 74 this weekend at a gun show. For the past couple of years my EDC knife was a cheap OTF Microtech knock off that served me well for what I paid for it (about 20 bucks) and for how I used it. But it finally played out while cutting some thick cardboard boxes, so I figured I'd try a different auto operating style knife. I like one handed operation of auto knives. Now, I'm no knife connoisseur so I had never heard of Boker until now. But I knew the moment I picked it up from the table that I liked it (after handling several other cheaper knives on the table). Then I hit the button and fired it. At that point, I LOVED IT!!! I came home from the gun show and watched every review I could find on Boker and the AK 74 and was comforted by all the great reviews I saw, ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!!! So far, I don't have a single complaint with mine. In fact, I liked it so much that I ordered a customized one for my nephew with his company name on it (he opens 100s of boxes daily in his business). With exception of the safety switch, mine is just like the one you reviewed w/gray handle and black serrate blade. With my AK 74, I have no blade play whatsoever neither side to side or up and down. That was actually what finally sold me on it when comparing it to other cheaper (and more expensive) knives on the table. My normal use for an EDC blade is simply opening mail, packages and occasionally a cardboard box. So based on your review I expect to get many many years of use out of mine and if not, I'll just go buy another one. I think it's a great value for the 40 bucks I dropped for it. That's less than a 50 round box of cheap target ammo these days!!! LOL. I enjoyed watching your review, thanks for posting!

My Boker Kalashnikov has almost a year. It has no play, but when partially open, it stays there. It seems to be the way it works. Aluminium handles get scratched easily, but the scratches make my knife unique. Made to last.

Recently discovered these for myself after being a snob for years about cheap knives. I love how hard use these little knives are, even in AUS8 you can just beat on these things and they just can’t be bothered. Very impressive and these are all I carry at work these day. They get a lot of use and they keep right on being all I could ask for from such an inexpensive edc blade.

I've had my Boker for 11 yrs now carried it for EDC and on duty everyday. Cleaned it a few times a little lube and still runs smoothly no issues. Pocket clip still strong no bending or warping. I painted mine FDE and it's just as smooth as the day I bought it. Very little blade play after 11 yrs of actual use. I've cut clothing , wood, rope still feels good. If I ever have to buy another EDC this will be it.

Ive only had mine for about a year if that and I've taken it apart to try to figure out why but the blade doesnt sit down as far anymore when its closed and ive already scratched my hand when reaching into my pocket. The blade still is between the scales but just barely. When looking at it idk if its the hole for the button that is allowing the button to move some but when I press down on the closed blade and look at the inside when the button is I can clearly see some play and wiggling. But it also could be i need a new spring? Idk kinda bummed i might have to buy a second one just to swap the button out if its not the spring which i can buy separately. Or maybe its the hole the bottom of the button sits in and needs a new scale on the clip side. I just dont know but makes me sad, i thought these things last forever. Ok Update! I just took it apart and removed the spring entirely and put it back together just to see what it looked like and it closed perfectly. So ill either play around with the spring or just get a new one

Agreed. This knife may be old but it wasn't used hard. I have the same knife (not automatic) that is probably 8 years old, and it's so wore and has been sharpened so many times the serrations are basically gone. All the black coating on the blade is gone. This knife looks like new in comparison.

Taking a step back, the fact that a tool lasting 13 years appears to be remarkable is, to me, less of a statement on the knife as it is on modern manufacturing quality and also consumerism. Tools should last decades, in my opinion, and for many generations, they did.
