In my book, Bola Sete is the Pelé of the guitar. I appreciate his musicality and virtuosity even more than other legendary guitarists of various genres such as Baden Powell, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Byrd, Freddie King, not to mention those crappy rock guitarists. While on this particular album he plays classically influenced Brazilian music, his versatility displayed on other albums/gigs is simply mind-blowing, ranging from Flamenco ~ Bossa Nova ~ Straight Ahead Jazz ~ Real Deal Blues. No wonder, Dizzy loved playing with him.

I love Bola Sete. You don't have to be a guitarist like myself to appreciate how good he is---his music is infectious, easy to 'get' (as long as you're not deaf)...

I have this album on cd many years with some other great Bola's work.This double cd with Shambhala Moon is probably the most transcendental guitar music that I have experienced.Listening to that music for me is like a traveling with Bola's guitar through time and visiting the places I've never been to .

Resulta increible que Boleta Sete con este album diga lo mismo que Sachmouth en la banda sonora de la pelicula good mornig viet nam..Que Maravilloso Mundo...por otros medios.

The fourth track, Macumba, reminds me so much of a track called Stan's Guitar by the late Davy Graham. I recall he wrote it inspired by his two playful young nieces. It's almost note for note at times. Does anyone know of any relation between the two compositions? In any case, please listen to some of the tracks on Davy Graham's two best albums, New Routes, Folk Roots and The Complete Guitarist. Graham also mixed eastern and western styles, including classical, jazz, folk and blues with tones from Iraq and India, amongst others.
