It may have been love on Stephanie's part, but more of a shotgun wedding on Eric's part since she was pregnant with Ridge and he was involved with Beth. I remember their marriage being in trouble when the show first started them talking about how they stayed married for the kids sake. Eric was going to divorce Stephanie, but then the Angela saga came alone. Then the Ridge/Caroline/Thorne drama came along.

Well this is all on Eric. He was not only married but pursued the very very recent ex-fiancée of his son and who also just happened to be the daughter of a woman he was going to marry year before and had been in love with 30 years. So wrong on many levels. He knew she was still very much hurting. He was so cold to Beth as well. Brooke never went after him.

I must say, if you watched B&B from 1987-1990, you were already really warned how B&B runs the stories and how they characters would be switching between family members/ would go through the family.
