I genuinely love that a show that has reincarnation and finding the culprit of a murder conspiracy as central plot points, is deriving so much drama from the perils of media adaptation and inter-studio politics! Just great stuff all around.

Love how you guys grasp like there is no one bad "guy" in this process everyone has a foot in different projects along with this one so scheduling everyone to meet is nearly impossible and a different understanding of the source material of how the medium of theorter works witch is what causes the problems. And because you brought it up they adapeded what was skiped (the rewind sequence of 1st day and manga authors at the bar) that they skiped because of time and what I believe directoral vision to make ep 1 feel like a documentary and work best as a anime.

There's NOT a lot of stuff been added to the anime, I don't know who told you that but that's a lie. The anime has been pretty faithful so far to the manga, the only thing they kind of changed is the rearrangement of scenes (they skipped some content in the latest episode but included them in this episode, for instance the whole going back in time thing was just them showing what they skipped in the previous episode).

Yo this season is shaping up to be another banger, loving it a lot so far!

It's a great look at a real life situation where adaptations have to balance the author's wishes with what works for the medium they are working in and producers/agencies also wanting their say on it. She's not somebody they can just ignore and somebody that has to be dealt with but if the author uses their power to get their own way and refuses to compromise then a production can collapse and jobs are lost. A small tantrum over how the characters act can end up losing a ton of money and putting 100+ people out of work.

I _think_ you guys mentioned it before but hearing you reiterate again that you've studied matters of media production puts into perspective why this is a super interesting show to hear you guys talk about.

Carson, how do you see and hear Abiko and confuse her for a man? Lol, I thought you were joking last episode.

In Japan, a manga author committed suicide earlier this year due to a dispute over a script between the author of the manga and the drama production staff, as in this episode.

I do want to point out that nobody explained why these changes were made or why these compromises had to be made in order for the play to work to Abiko. They just smoothed over everything that Abiko was complaining about by saying that she would understand once she saw the rehearsal that it was a good script. So obviously, when she sees the play and still isn't satisfied with how the characters are written, there is going to be serious backlash from her. Blindly accepting that the professional script writers know what they are doing and that they know what's best for the story you wrote is how Sweet Today was butchered in Season 1, because the author was clearly not okay with how it was adapted, but kept her silence anyway. Like, Abiko says herself that she's fine with changes to the story as long as the characters remain true to themselves. Which I think is the mark of any great adaptation, and not that demanding of an ask? Look at how well the Live Action One Piece was received in contrast to the dumpster fire that was the later seasons of the Witcher.

I enjoyed the more nuanced take of adaptations this season and how it's not always just the EVIL production team waiting to take the author's throat (we already had this with Sweet Today) but how an adaptation can get butchered because they fail to communicate their feelings properly. Abiko stated multiple times she doesn't know what it takes to adapt a manga arc into a 2 hour play so she is looking at the script from a different perspective than everyone else and that's a huge problem even without taking things like agencies, the stage, the sets, the actors' schedule and more into account, *however* middle management fucked things up by sugarcoating her worries (Raida even adding his own input) and sending a completely different message to GOA than what was intended and they didn't explain to her how theater plays work and how that would affect the story either, but to simply trust them. GOA on the other hand was simply doing what the "author" told him and ended up creating a seemingly worse script each time, even if he as a "true fan" should be able to tell the script wasn't "good" (this is with Abiko seeing it as a manga script, Aqua and the rest seemed okay with the work done for the most part), he can't just go and communicate with Abiko directly, there's a hierarchy in production and as we saw, he is not high on that list, it's similar to Akane explaining they can't just have the actors give advice to each other or pester the scriptwriter about the parts they play. In the same light, Abiko could halt the entire productions 20 days before premiere, ditch GOA and write the entire thing herself *and* threaten to axe the project if things don't go her way, GOA tho? bro can't even have his name taken off the credits lmao. Both GOA and Abiko were done dirty by middle management and it's awful to see GOA get all the smoke when he thought he was doing what the author wanted.

My recommended anime for this season are "WISTORIA : Wand and Sword" and "MAKEINE : Too Many Losing Heroines!". Please give them a try.
