This is literally the best she has ever sung this song... all confidence, no longer embarrassed by it like she used to express. She sounded really really good! I am so proud of her, and from that sugar pop era the most consistent and enduring performer..movies, television shows and singing.

She seems like the coolest…..super sweet lady. This beat has always been slammin since 1999. Great tune………..man……..missing stuff like this on the radio play and missing that era much like candy 🍭.

I think the confidence comes, at least in part, due to the fact that she is on stage with her husband and his amazing band - Dawes. The lead guitar is Taylor Goldsmith, and they have been married for a couple of years when this was filmed. He had a big influence on her latest album.

I love the maturity and calmness she brings to the song as an older woman. It's an entirely different interpretation and delivery of one of her classic songs..she sounds great too.

This song was appropriate at the time. I wish celebs wouldn't be so ashamed! This is such a bop! It's a bit of a silly song but it brings such joy and it brought her success. So glad to see her having fun singing this. Its ok to embrace your past and let loose.

It’s a fun song, but it’s laced with sexual undertones and she was barely a teenager at the time she recorded it. She’s justifiably embarrassed by it, but it wasn’t her fault either. I can’t watch the actual music video, but I freakin’ love this live performance. She’s owning it now and it’s no longer cringe-y to watch.

I remember on a television interview she said that she hated that song and that she would never sing it again in any of her concert shows but here she is singing her heart out and I always had hope she would sing it again. I think it's her best song of her career.

I was at her concert yesterday and she said she dismissed and resented her past songs for a while but now that she is getting older she is learning to embrace it because it made her who she was.

I was there. Loved the original music video. :) I wish her new album "Silver Landings" had more upbeat, fun songs like Candy. But it's the difference between Hollywood Records prouducing her first album and songs for a teen audience, and now she is writing and producing as an adult for herself.

There's those of us who fell in love with her slower more adult music. First time I heard Candy, I had just finished her Wild Hope album I think, and I couldn't even finish watching the whole song because it felt so weird. I love her new album with the slower jams.

I just wanted to clarify; Hollywood Records did not produce her first album? Epic, Sony and this company called 550 did... As for old and new Mandy; I liked old Mandy, but as a person, how she is, I could not see her making that kind of music anymore. I feel like they're two entirely different discographies (So Real/I Wanna Be With You/Mandy Moore in the first discography and Coverage/Wild Hope/Amanda Leigh/Silver Landings in the other)

Yes but i wish she sign a good Record Label to help her comback and having more good adult albums in the future....maybe a kind of ADELE albums and with great video and visuals.. All the videos from this new album kinda cheap i dont need a high budget but maybe a kind of (CRY, I WANNA B WITH U, WALK ME HOME) videos is great.

I LOVE the fact that she did this song when she was 15/16 and was a global superstar, touring with NSYNC the day after she did the music video for Candy...and here she is at 30+ grooving like 50 year old Rebecca Pearson. Its beautiful and totally how me and my friends dance these days. She can be in the "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" sequel.

I looked into her explanation for apologising for this song and it made a lot of sense. She was a kid with no involvement in the writing process. She didn't see it as her song. She, to put it in a way that makes sense to me, was the piece of the puzzle. She just sang a song like she covered somebody else. It wouldn't surprise me if that's what she meant when explaining it.
