INSIDE THE TUSCANY TRAIL

The Tuscany Trail, an event that has grown to be one of the biggest bikepacking events certainly in Europe if not internationally, was to be the destination for the Bombtrack team trip in June, 2019. The promise of sunshine, the beautiful Tuscan scenery and good friends lured us to this spectacular gathering of like minded cyclists. The route encapsulates UNESCO world heritage sights, Roman buildings from before Christ and towns that feel like you've jumped at least 1000 years back in time. These amazing centres of culture are surrounded by twisting vineyards, endless olive groves and many 'rolling' hills (hint, they're not!). Mixed with the amazing local cuisine, having public water fountains to refill spread all over and the steady pace of life made for an ideal bikepacking destination.
Ten of us packed our gear and converged from across Europe on the registration point in Massa eager to see familiar faces, meet many new ones, hear their stories, share a laugh or two and join the esprit de corps that the event is renown for.

@Stano Yes, there is tons of snobbery in the cycling word..I love cycling and just see two wheels..if you are cycling what ever then I will be friendly..I have even been known to be friendly with hikers...🤔🤔🤔

Really great seeing this video as we rode through some of the same towns but were riding on the roads rather than the gravel. We saw you guys in Lucca and and we were wondering what the event was. We were on our bronze coloured tandem on our way from Palermo to Bellagio. Trying to get some friends to do this event also in 2021

I flew to in from Pittsburgh to do this ride. What an incredible time. You can read about the logisitcs I took to go from the states to trail here (no ads - just my blog :): take.bike/2019/05/27/getting-ready/ Even commented on this film crew (I ate next to you guys in Vinci): "Ran into a large group of riders which were eating in Vinci the night before. Seems like a film crew. Lots of camera gear and heavy for the trail. You have to document it though."

We met a badger, some deers, saw beautiful birds, small snakes, big frogs and such.. there's nothing in that area to worry about!

We took 5 days for 545 km and 9.200m of elevation 5 days. For us +/- a day to less as it is so worth to stop more often and enjoy the impressions, the country and its people.

About Italy not being flat: the only two flat places? Pianura Padana (that goes all throughout north Italy, horizontally, right under the Alps) and the pianure in Puglia. Those are the only big two planes here. So yeah. Italy is bumpy AHAHAHA
