Octopus and squid are common on the reefs at Bonaire. In July, adult squid are very approachable and, once they become acclimated to the presence of divers, they will resume mating and laying eggs. Tamie deWitt is the diver closest to the squid; Bob deWitt and Marj Awai are divers in the background.

That was interesting to watch. Had no idea they lay eggs. Saw a seahorse spew out babies so I thought squids did it too. Thanks. LOL

@chrisbrownhuzzy5 Well if you film a squid laying eggs, what else would you title the program? The squid is depositing eggs in a crevice in the rocks. If you want to actually see the egg cases, you'll need to view another program where someone has a camera that can peer into small crevices. On the other hand, maybe you didn't watch the whole video that I submitted. The egg-laying sequence and mating begins at 5:00 minutes.

Cuttlefish are not found in the Caribbean. These are reef squid, Sepioteuthis sepioidea

This is old video taken with a Sony A1U video camera in an Amphibico housing. The original footage resolution is 1080i. Glad you enjoyed viewing this video!

I guess not all squid lay eggs because I just saw a video where a squid was kind of dragging this sac along and live babies were coming out of it. #confused
