Wait what? An average guy made $1/day and they throw around 500?! In later episodes Joe cries about much less? The writers really messed up the money value in Bonanza.

I’m always screaming to the woman, ‘don’t do it, girl. You’re gonna die.’ LOL But seriously, there is a documentary about the show where they explained that was a part of the show’s structure because they wouldn’t marry off the men. Which I could remember title but you can search if you desire

It's originally a melody from a civil war song, "Aura Lee."

To Ron Blazak. No she was not humming Love Me Tender that was dung by Elvis Presley. She was humming the classical piece of music called Aura Lee that have the same melody. Many songs have the same melody that have different titles. Oh Danny Boy have the same melody as Londonairy Aire and the Irish call it Derry Aire. The church calls it both He Looked Beyond My Fault as well as Amazing Grace. All have same notes ver batum. Liebestraum also called Night Fall also called Dreams of Love depending on the part of the world.
