It's hard for Joe to fall in love but when he does he puts his whole heart into it. Just as it should be. Love these shows, thanks for posting them.

this episode and "forever" are the most hearttouching episodes of bonanza. and it shows what a good actor m. landon was. when you see this, you forget, that its just a movie. and the music contributes very much to the story. thanks.

I knew that this woman wasn't long for this world when she first ran from Little Joe, grabbed a hitching post, and nearly keeled over! Why did the writers have to make like every woman who got serious with a Cartwright, either die, or get on a stage coach; and leave town?

I think if they were to get married, the entire series would be difficult for the writing process..plus the writers don't want to fix what isn't broken
@Blisterdude123
@Blisterdude123 6 жыл бұрын
They didn't want to write complicated stories. Every episode basically exists as if the one before it never happened. It was simpler for audiences. Also, a huge part of the audience of Bonanza at the time was women, so the show creators thought it was better to keep every Cartwright forever single, to appeal to those women watchers. Which is why every single romance any Cartwright gets involved in ends in ridiculous disaster all the time. Kinda makes you wonder why they bothered making so many romance-based episodes, it just gets ridiculous watching them each fall in love with seven or eight childhood friends they knew all at once, for one episode at a time.

Poor Little Joe. This guy has to be the most nearly but never quite married character in television history. I wonder how many times while the series was running Little Joe almost got married but the poor girl either died or move it on. It has to be a record

The creators agreed that none of the Cartwrights would ever marry. If any episode involved romance, the end result would be that the woman would either meet another man, leave town, or sadly perish. I hate it but its what they decided.

Margarita Patino I think they do it to maintain the storyline. It would change the dynamic of a widowed father and three sons. I think someone said something about it making a show like a western less desirable to watch if a woman is added and makes it less so for the men to have adventures and mishaps.

You know it seems like I just woke up after four years of living in a senior building, not even realizing where I was after being bitten by a hobo spider that forced me to run from my home that I was buying while caring for my granddaughter and working in my lawn every day and my garden. Now since she's 18, she's gone and here I am the life being sucked out of me at 68 years old in February and I don't know what to do with myself while I have years left or at least I think I do. This is the most difficult realization in my life that I'm old and when did that happen? I don't feel any differently than I have for years but I'm living in this senior building where people are 95 years old. I am helping them while I'm here. I ran here for Refuge not realizing what it was. It's like God knew that my granddaughter was leaving and I would be alone to take care of my house by myself. But I don't believe God would have put me in that medical shape of nearly losing my arm. Those spiders Wouldn't Die. The fumigators were there twice and the hobos were even in my garden and throughout the city. It was like the movie The Birds. People were running to the hardware store to get hobo traps and they worked but I would have had to Buy a hundred at least. I'm still in shock 4 years later as you can tell. I have cayenne pepper around every window, door , baseboard heater, refrigerator, in the bathroom, everywhere. I pray to God I never see them again. The bite was like an anesthetized electric drill going in my arm. Always look behind your toilet. They are light brown and they are huge. The size of a woman's small fist . July was the month.

But then he fell in love. And I thought perhaps, for once, for once - then BLURGHHH! She freaking dies! I would like to string the writer up! Why can't you let them be HAPPY??

Just once in 13 seasons I would have loved to have seen one of the boys or the father get married and have children! It could have kept the show going after Hoss passed away. Why do they never consider these things? Instead they bring in a guy named Candy. Not that Candy was bad, but it wasn't the right timing. Adam could have come back , anything to keep the show going.

I remember when I was 25 I didn't really accomplish so much. Must be pretty amazing to accomplish things and be successful I've always felt I'm kind of a late bloomer mainly cuz I'm 42 and every time I try something it just doesn't seem to work out For example fish keeping I figured out how to get the aquariums right and how to get the water right but I keep having to buy fish in Taiwan that are sick so they die anyways It's really hard to get a healthy fish unless I buy it. Gardening yeah that doesn't work either the plants die after I broke my shoulder and scooter accident I made it difficult to do karate and archery again But there is a some light at the end of this dark tunnel my friend and I want to open a hot dog stand at the park which I think I can because since I won it's kind of easy to get around rules I'm American and my roommate is Taiwanese and for 6 years we've been trying to save money and every time we save money something happens Sadly she's a single mom and her husband bruso kindly divorced her needs Jesus All I can say is she's a great mom and I'm honored that I get to care for my God son and be like a second parent him I never thought I'd have a son before I was married I'm excited because next week we start our first attempt at running our hot dog business I'm an entrepreneur I told her I would sponsor it and I can watch her sign while he's at the park playing with his friends Since I have complex PTSD it makes it hard to run out for little people for long periods of time I often wonder if what I do really makes a difference in Taiwan Jesus told me to love the people in Taiwan that looks different and different ways and I've seen some of those people and God healed and bless them

Shawn Post How does that " figure"? Do you think every "CA" means California, even in user names? No, my comment above was sincere to the context of the story, having no bearing on my screen name, having no correlation to my locale that has never been California. Fools are rash; they jump to conclusions on the basis of nothing, as that character did in the story. Rash is exactly that, every place in the world, as you so aptly demonstrated. To be rash is contrary to wisdom. Why you presume a Californian would speak of it, is unclear, considering that it is a region known for confusion, not for astute wisdom. You're trying to shame a commenter for writing in wisdom, while you demonstrate none. Troll much?

You are so right! Laura was the most lovely girlfriend Joe ever had. And she loved him body and soul. My heart ached for her at the beginning because I thought Joe wasn't interested and I know what unrequited love's like. But then he fell for her, and it was so SWEET. Maybe, maybe if they'd got married, Joe would've given up his philandering ways and been true to her. And then I was like: "Please, please, please don't tell 'em she's going to die! Let them get married, even if it's only for a few days!" As you say, it SUCKS big time. And bites at the same time.

Alessandra Benz, like every other human, Michael Landon had his shortcomings. However, he was a great man. He wrote, produced, and directed some of the best shows in Hollywood. I admire him. Many people do. He followed his dream and worked his hardest to touch millions of hearts around the world. He has a fantastic family, who are very talented and hardworking. I suggest that you do your research about what happened behind the scenes of Bonanza and his other television shows before you say something else foolish.
