I don't think they got the Quaker grammar right in this show. "Thee" is third person singular; you just say "thee is" without the rest of the biblical talk. It's like saying "your honor," like "Usted" in Spanish.

Adam's character always looked out for people, regardless of race creed or color and was a real lady's man to boot
@Lily_Anne Жыл бұрын
I don't know about the ladies' man part in real life, but Pernell Roberts would get really incensed over the way minorities were treated on this show and often objected to the scripts' depiction of them. That was one of several reasons he left the series. I'm glad he played a part so close to himself in many ways.

@armathanya80003 жыл бұрын
@@jarrodbarkley9061 @Gemini Johnson. @ Milo Kurtzer. It is tragic how the media warped and sensationalised stories just to gain eyeballs. Worse many media today just repeat the stories of 60 years ago without clarifications. In personal interviews, Pernell Roberts objected that Adam was over 30 but still subject to father’s will, not that he had to call him Pa. There was no development of the Adam character and stories were recycled. There were numerous scenes that proved this. On The Quest, Ben tells the 3 of them if they fight they shd go to bed and all 3 troop off upstairs. In Vengeance he tells them “you must obey me”. In Prime of Life, it seems they can’t run the ranch without him. And on and on. David Dortort shared that Roberts “could make any scene he was in better” and that of the 4 main stars he was “the only true professional actor.” Guest stars shared that Roberts was a “serious and intelligent man” with a “quick mind” who was “very serious and analytical about his acting”. So yes, he was out of place in Bonanza where often the script was banal, ludicrous, riddled with implausibilities and inconsistencies. If you talk about ego, you need look no further than Michael Landon who objected to new actors (Barry Coe and Guy Williams) who were goodlooking and popular being added as regulars when Roberts left and Landon had them removed. Definitely, Roberts was self-assured, confident, outspoken about his convictions and did not pander to the media. And this irked lesser mortals.
