Hammond has now added the new SKX Pro to the range, which in some ways could be described as a two-manual version of the SK Pro, but this instrument has some added features which are great for live performance.

11:46 onwards in incredible. Pitch bend and modulation wheels and then that piano / pad sound on the lower manual and that really beautiful analogue mono-synth solo on the upper manual. This is one really serious professional instrument!!!!

I met Tony about 25 years ago, and he always advises well on what keyboards work best live. The difference is (I think Tony might agree) is that every keyboard sounds brilliant in headphones, but that doesn't mean it can cut through loud drummers and guitarists in a live gig.

I agree, there are some brands that sound real good on heasphone or studio purpose, but it just cannot jump out during live.(eg the Yamaha Cp4 imo) The funny thing is some keyboard sound power for live but during recording it sound hash (eg the SV1) I never know if my new purchased equipment need to sale until i go Live with it! (unluckily, no such thing as 7 day money back in my country) i have to buy and sell keyboards during my young age before my ear finally learn : What sound is best for the Live. Thats spend lot of money but now i understand what sound ia good for LIVE. Go back to the skx pro, i not yet try that but Hammond Suzuki always make organ that sound good one demo and headphone....you never know its a beast until you play it with other instrument! Bump and you feel like you are the king of the world! I use to have all products of Hammond suzuki back to the sk2,xk3c time. Now i play with Crumar and viscount for it price and portability. Xk3c and B3p is too bulky for most casual gig and SK2 only have 1 set of drawbar which is not enough for me. I didnt spent money on skx because i dont want to spend money on same organ sound but just for 1 more set of drawbar. So i give viscount and mojo a try....which i think its a wrong decision. I always miss the Hammond Suzuki sound. Now i use sk1 for jam session, mojo for jazz gig, legend for company event. But for big size jazz fest, sorry! Hammond B3p mk2 is always my only choice! So i guess i am going to get a skx pro after the covid lock down is end

@@B3Johnson Always remember, if the organ has an 'H' at the start of it's brand name, it IS the real deal ! All others are simply THEIR versions of the Hammond organ. Make mine an H at all times (O: (SK-2 / Leslie Studio 12 owner here !)

This looks like the best keyboard I have ever seen. The only thing I wonder about is playing piano on a waterfall keyboard - non hammer action. Edit. I tried it. Yes I could get used to it! the piano sound is very decent too. Of course it would never replace a hammer action, but it is ve;locity sensitive and will sound good enough

Awww damn, i pulled the trigger on the Sk pro not too long ago. I wonder if Hammond will eventually sell a lower manual add-on for the sk pro for those who already bought the single manual version

Hi Tony, Your videos have been a Godsend over the years of Hammond explorations! Having bought the SKX Pro I'm hopeful of finally having a 1 keyboard solution in my "golden" years. I have a setup load question you may know ? If there is a setup file with adjusted patches for organ, tone wheel, leslie settings, etc is it possible to just extract or load those patches from a setup file to an existing set up -vs loading the whole setup in it's entirety & not overwriting everything else ? My thought was to then replace the patches in the still existing combinations I've made the past 6 months. Thanks !!

Interesting! Is the keyboard splitting flexible enough, so you can decide for each zone, if you want to play a sound from the Hammond, send only MIDI on channel x, or both?

i record skx pro midi on the cubase 5 using midi out and midi in ports, the cubase can receive midi data when i play notes, change drawbar slide, drive level and leslie fast/slow switch.. but when i play it back, only notes and drawbar slide can "called back" from the skx pro, and there is no reaction for the leslie fast/slow switch.. can somebody help me what is the problem?

I have noticed that every one of these reviews does not use the Leslie 3300 as they are scared to use one. I would think that it will really add to the sound!

nice, but not enough for me to upgrade from my SKx. I use it for Hammond organ sounds, not the other voices, ...and it's "portability" - it's big and heavy, not to mention the size and weight of the SK-25 pedals, stand and bench. It's "moveable" not "portable".

Four questions: 1) are the keybeds weighted (like piano) or not weighted (like an organ) ?? 2) by any chance, do the keyboard support After Touch or some "touch" options? 3) As for Midi, it does have the 2 round standardized connectors. But with the USB to host, does that also pass MIDI like many keyboards do these days? 4) Using a USB drive (or SD card???) is there a way to save "songs"? Meaning, you set everything up how you like it, save it to a name, then later just call up the name and the keyboard instantly changes to those settings?

I believe that the keys are semi-weighted? As for after touch, I don’t think it does have it. I’m not sure about he midi question or the usb though. Hope this helps!

Leslie does not sound natural but thank you for the demo. Shame about these new names….Xk Xk3c X5 Xk Sk Skx and so confusing. Was lovely with A, B, C M L etc. What was the problem with taking a large original Organ on the road anyway? l used to thoroughly enjoy moving my Hammonds at gigs with trollies etc.

HAMMOND IS JUST LIKE APPLE. THEY COME OUT WITH THE SK THEN SKX NOW SKX PRO SO ALL YOU THAT BOUGHT THOSE NOW NEED THE DOUBLE TIER AND WILL SPEND THE MONEY TO GET IT. JUST GET THE HAMMON XK 5 PRO SERIES OR A3 WITH A LESLIE 3300 ON WHEELS
