Yeah....That's Dennis Quaid ( brother of Randy Quaid, who was in the National Lampoon Vacation movies... ). I had Bonnie Raitt's first big album back in the 1980s. I think this song is from that. 'I Can't Make You Love Me' was her big hit off of that. Check out her version. From what I understand, she had been around & performing for at least a couple of decades, before her breakthrough to major SUCCESS. A really cool lady. Damn! Had to go back & correct it. I thought it was released in the early 80s....but it was 1989. Memories sort of start wish-mashing & blending together after so many decades. I just hit 64 last week.

'Nick of Time'.......Yeah.....another big hit from that album. That whole album was really good.

March, 1971 - I hitch-hiked from Iowa to Massachusetts - freezing my butt off when a woman in a new Porsche 911-T pulled over - DAMN! She was 1 of the Woodstock backers, & had about 20 different driver's licenses - 'cause she drove at 125 to 160 MPH. Stopped twice - "follow us, ma'am" - paid the fines in cash, flashed a different license each time! FAST trip to NY.... Caught another ride to see my mom for spring break - and the Berkshires did indeed look like frosting. 3 nights of the "Holy Modal Rounders with Michael Hurley", VERY small venue - fun, & I spent 3 nights at the bar, talking with their opening act - an unknown folk/rock girl named Bonnie Raitt - no shit!

Bonnie Raitt is one of the best slide guitarist on the planet. She is also an incredibly gifted song writer (yes, she wrote 'I can't make you love me'). And she has one seriously powerful voice. I saw her perform about ten years ago at the Royal Albert Hall in London. They had a Scottish folk singer up first, who did a very nice solo performance. Then they set up the stage for Bonnie and her touring band (which has been more or less the same for thirty years and the live album 'Road Tested' is one of the very best live albums out there). I think the sound engineer was expecting similar preassure levels from Bonnie's vocal chords as he was getting from the Scottish guy, so the vocal mic was left set the same. When she introduced herself the roof practically caved in from the explosion of noice and she quickly had to move a full yard back from the mic stand until the sound guy had readjusted his volume control!

Bonnie has written some fine songs in the latter part of her career, but I Can't Make You Love Me is not one of them. It was written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin.

Bonnie’s ability to make a cover better than the original is remarkable. There are alot of shiny nuggets in her gold mine, like “Rock Steady”- a live encore with Bryan Adams that brought the house down. Guaranteed feelgood video !

She broke a lot of ground for female artist. She sang and played blues on guitar, slide guitar and overall was amazing. When this song was released she finally got some of the respect and accolades she deserved. Yes that is Bonnie burning up the slide guitar. That wasn't country.

Bonnie Raitt has the best blues voice. This song isn't typical of her style. Her voice has such a great burr in it, but listen to her singing "Feels Like Home to Me" if you want to get a sample of a love song. Her voice is so poignant.

Miss Bonnie be gettin' nasty with that slide geetar here! This song embodies all the universal emotions Bonnie sings about - lust, unrequited love, longing, rage. She makes music for intelligent, mature grownups, and this is a song for intelligent, mature grownups. Go Bonnie! I'd also recommend "Love Sneakin' Up On You." That sliiide geetar funk blues is fantastic.

You do so many videos India I'mnot sure you listen to music doing house work or ....? If you like Bonnie's style put the album " Give It up" on. She covers almost every genre of music on it. It's not such a country feel. If you want a Dixie land piano feel "You Got Know How" is tremendous. I Hawaiian feel with a conga drum and sax " I Know You Don't Love Me No More." is also tremendous.

This song part of soundtrack of movie of same title (I think), starring Julia Robert's and Dennis Quade! Rarely think of her as country, though this song is of that ilk. She really is more "blues" and plays consummate guitar, particularly slide guitar. She is highly regarded in the industry for her guitar skills and is 10 - time, or so, Grammy winner! This song not great reflection of her as an artist.
