Through the 80's I was not a fan of U2 in fact I knew very little of U2. However in recent years I have become a fan because I heard Bono speak when he is not behind the rock star microphone. I believe he is a man of deep conviction and not only speaks well of the problems he wants to fix, he actually gets in and tries to help implement the solution. Also, I believe he has been an inspiration to many young people through his speeches at various colleges. He is also a role model, I believe he lives his life as he speaks of his life, for a rock star to be married to the same woman for over 30 years is a testament in and of itself. Lastly, as I listen to Bono speak he has actually started me on a renaissance of my own belief in America and the future. God Bless you, Bono.

It takes humility on his part for those things to happen. Ego destroys relationships. And besides all of that, there's his humanitarian work, which, regardless of whether you agree with the means Bono sees as solutions, you can't honestly discount as him just trying to look good in front of people. Listen to him talk about this stuff. You can tell just by him speaking about it that he has spent a LOT of time learning about all of this stuff and therefore obviously cares about it truly.

Everyone is hating on Bono, it's your opinion which is fine. But why are you guys here? It just seems like a huge waste of time to be investing time in something you hate. In his performance and interviews an air of egotism does indeed leak through, but honestly, I don't think it's really fair to rag on Bono about the size of his ego.
