Thank you for the information and tips, it will help me a lot this summer! Already had aphids and greenfly on some trees and I killed them only with soapy water. 👍

Great tips. I got a nasty problem with those scale pests at the moment (mainly on my citrus trees). But because there are pets and infants around I cant really use pesticides. Removing them and washing the tree with a mix of alcohol and soapy water helps reducing it, but I never really get rid of them. Once I forgot about them during the finals and several trees were literally covered in them. Has anyone some tips in how to eliminate the without using dangerous substances?

It's a alot of work, but taking your time, using fingertips, alcohol&soap, carefully removing them will kill the majority of them. If that doesn't help, try slow releasing insecticide/pesticide sticks to put into the soil, water will dissolve it and roots will suck it up, poisoning everyting trying to suck the sap out of the plant.

I am new to this, but i am still impressed by how much things you manage to learn me in only 7 minutes. :) (i only have 10 trees now that i got from the mountain last week, so the fertilizer tips for the roots is good news for me, i am afraid maybe only half of them will survive until the spring comes) I know it is not the best time to get new plants from nature, but i dont have patient to wait for my first trees until spring, but should some of them die i will at least have learned something from it. :)

Evergreens (Pines and Juniper) can be collected in October/November.. especially pines... This is because the assimilation rate, the metabolism, feeding process between roots , foilage photosyntesis slows down alot. Rootpruning and yamadori wont't put the trees in chock so much this time a year.. It's recommended and wise to get as much roots as possible home..every time.

Thank you again. I know about a place with a lot of amazing juniper trees and i think i will take the chance and collect a couple of them now so i have some of them too, and then get the rest when the time is more perfect. When it comes to bonsai, it have become clear to me already that patient will be my greatest weakness.. lol

I heard of using antibacterial dish soap watered down in a spray bottle can be a safe cheap way to keep pests away. Do you also agree?
