Great video! Your content on RC has partly inspired me to dip a toe in the water as well as plastic kit modelling. Bought a second hand nitro RC car last week

To be fair, I am somewhat more demanding. Had I spent that amount of money, I would expect - and demand - an absolutely pristine buggy in the box.

Yes.....but as I said it was giving me stress!!! I am getting the decals supplied and I am getting the parts supplied. The body anomalies pointed out will blend in with the marks that runners get with time. Letting go of the situation brought relief as the lack of communication from ModelSport was frustrating.

@@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel The problem is as you get older you become more stressed by silly things. I call it the Victor Meldrew effect. I was planning to buy an FTX Apache (when it is released) from that supplier. I'm now having second thoughts and may stick with my original plan of getting a Zorro from a different supplier that I've used many times.

@@SpeccyMan I agree Nick. I have had 6 cars from Modelsport and I have had issues with 2 of those 6 cars.....so 33% defect rate is NOT good at all. They are good on price, so if you think of the saving I made by going there, that kind of made up for it. They are sending me the parts I need, so the only real issue is the defects on the buttresses. So....2 marks....plus hassle. Yes the older I get the more I just can't be bothered with stuff like this. Accepting the truck came with a huge relief......the issue just vanished seemingly. It drives very well, even though I was a bit nervous in this footage - that comes with filming something new from the outset. New to the truck and new to jumping!

Hi. Thanks for the video, and it's nice to hear another similar aged British RC enthusiast 😊 Can I ask, now that we are 4 months later, do you have any updated thoughts on the Punisher? I'm guessing that we are similar-ish in that we like to look after our cars and treat them far more gently than lots of KZfaqrs seem to do. A lot of people talk about durability issues but I have no intention of hard bashing. I want it moreso for flat beaches, gravel tracks, fields, etc, and the extra width giving more stability appeals to me. Modelsport still have it for £369 so I'd be interested if you have had any issues. Thanks

Hi there and thanks for your great comments. Updated thoughts on The Punisher are 1) A good value and very fast truck 2) Needs full pre-load on the front shocks to stop the underneath from hitting the floor at full braking. It does over 50mph and stops very quickly, so you really need to stiffen up the front end. I like to drive flat out even on 6s, so it is important that I know the braking effect is going to be enough, and that I preserve the front end. Yes you are right, I am of an age that I am not a basher or abuse my models. I like all my kit to be nice. As soon as it gets tatty it is either dismantled for parts or money is spent correcting the issues. At £369 The Punisher is good value as I have said. The Kronos is an alternative, but the Punisher is a larger truck. The Tyre nobbles and the tyre width give it much more presence than the Kronos IMO. It is also noisier as the tyre nobbles are much larger on the Punisher. What the Punisher doesn't have is much colour. The body looks dull when dusty/dirty, whereas the Kronos is very vibrant. I am happy with the Punisher overall, but I will soon be stripping each differential to upgrade and replace the oils, as I suspect they are a bit low. If I think of anything else I will get back to you. Thanks. Simon

@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel thanks for the prompt reply mate. I'm fine with the dull-ish colour scheme as I have plenty of other more eye catching models (like the Green Radix 4 that you also have). I'm just feeling drawn to the Punisher as an extra wide speed machine so I think it still ticks the right boxes for me as long as I don't plan on smashing it around. Thanks for the extra tips as well.

@@austinrhubarb You are welcome mate. Words that describe the Punisher = wide, fast, mean-looking and very good fun! Plus the name...The Punisher! (don't mess with me.....lol)

Its sad to see my punisher basicly destroyed itself in the first run. Both diff housings front and back melted within the first 5 minutes of running and had to be replaced. Middle diff also burned the packing inside together with the gear cover and housing. And the drive shaft was bent right out of the box. For aomeone Just getting into the hobby again that was a big disappointment.

Sorry that happened to you. I can't say mine has given me any issues so far. I am about to change the diff oil, but it has only had 5 decent runs anyway, so I am quite a light user, just fast. The bent driveshaft warrants a refund.....I can well imagine you are disappointed. My other Corally cars, the Radix 4 and the Radix 6 are both fine and they have had a lot of use.

...and just as a sideline, I've been into this hobby now for 18 months and all 9 of my cars (all RTR) were from modelsport. I've generally been happy with their service but regarding your 'issue rate', I've also had imperfections on one third of my cars. Both of my associated (including the Trophy Rat) had minor issues and my first Losi, a Hammer Rey, is leaking from the centre diff after just it's 2nd run. My point is that, based on the vast amount of youtube RC reviews I have ever watched, it sadly seems that across all brands and prices ranges, cars sometimes come with a few issues (and often we're just expected to suck it up / fix it ourself). So, in my humble opinion, such issues dont reflect on the retailer as much as the manufacturer. But for sure, the retailer still needs to hear feedback of issues.

Good comments. I would add that if I had my own retail company that sold RC cars, I would feel it was incumbent on me to check what I was selling. Yes the manufacturer made it, but I am selling it and passing it on to the paying customer. If I as a retailer found lots were not up to standard, I would tell the manufacturer and refuse to sell their kit. If all retailers did this, they would be forced to pull their socks up. My other issue with Modelsport is they have a nasty habit of opening RTRs, playing about with them, boxing them up again and pretending they have never touched it. I have lots of evidence that supports what I have just said. Sad but true.

@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel Yeap, I fully agree that in the ideal world this is how things should be sold (check before sending out), but I doubt it'll ever happen. I think the sad reality is that most retailers, for all sorts of products, will just send stuff out, knowing that there will always be a % of comebacks and they'll just try and firefight the problem as and when it happens. And sure, how effectively they deal with each problem is what sets apart good retailers from bad ones. Cheers 👍
