There are many different ways. To see which method is right for you, you have to go to some races to see how they conduct them. The one that seems to work best is you create the order for all the racers. Try to get a good mix of different skill levels for each heat. Each heat has 3 racers for 3 lane tracks or 5 racers for 5 lanes. The winner steps aside and the next set of racers race their heat, etc. You then have all the racers race in sets of 3 or 5, etc, until you have a winner. You can race a "1 and done" meaning each car gets 1 chance to go all the way to win it. Or you can race a "progressive" when even if a racer loses, he/she gets another chance to race again for lane 2, lane 3, etc. It'll make a lot more sense to go to some races and see how this is done.
