I'm feeling a lot of grief. My oldest daughter recently passed away, I was laid off, I miss my grown children, my unemployment just expired. My job interviews are many but no offers yet. I'm going to have to find a job outside of my career path to make ends meet. I'm feeling depressed and I cry at the drop of a hat. I'm growing closer to God. Pray for me, I need a miracle.

I love how the Lamentations gave us the right to complain and voice out our grief and anger and let God know VERBALLY that we are in pain and in suffering. God never asked us to be quiet and just keep it to ourselves. He let us raise our voices and question Him without sinning of course. God hears us when we cry out and voice our feelings to Him. Truly, His mercies are new every morning.

Moses lost his inheritance because of his complaining of God not caring for them. God hates grumbling and complainers. Theses are apostates who do this according to Jude. However, God cares about our thoughts, feelings, grievances, and sorrows, but not our complaints.

@@ms.playboyinternational393 to be fair, lamenting is different than complaining. I know exactly what you meant but it may confuse others or distract from the message. To lament is to express grief over the unfairness and injustice of others. To complain is to express grief over the unfairness and injustice of the self. (Noticed a comment here about complaining so thought I'd chime in :) )

In the Psalms (139:12), David writes that even darkness is as light to God. When we lament, our darkest moments are turned into humility and growth with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, suffering merely leads to self-pity and anger.

This book really shows me that we are not alone in our sufferings. It shows me that others before us who were called by God experience despair and grief and hopelessness. Just like I am feeling now. Yet God still did something for them, through them and in them. This really gives me hope. Specially when it's so easy to feel like we are alone while we suffer.

How are you doing now dear heart? I have a great grandson I worry about leaving because we formed a powerful bond as I looked out for him when his mom was on drugs. Our relationship is more like mom/son but that was to save him. His mom, while off street drugs and trying to be a good mom is just not that affectionate and treats him like he's supposed to act grown and he's only six. In other words, she's way too hard in him. I worry all the time that I will die and he won't be loved as well as he deserves. I also pray our Father will prepare a Christian wife for him and that will always love him and be by his side when he is old enough to marry. I know your granny had these worries too I am sure. Please let me know how you are doing.

I sat through hospice with both and i wasn’t even 30 yet. A lonely grief stricken road indeed but Gods strength can’t be matched. Everyone left me during these times but he was always there to comfort me. I hold on to the hope that I will see them both again one day. I hope things are better for you now.

And so, I have been studying the Bible, and some parts are very hard to understand, and I have to read the verse over and over again, and even then I still don't understand, but I read the whole book, and I look up one of these videos ans it really helps for me to sum everything up and even gives me inside on things that I missed or didn't even notice ! This was so insightful and a relief to learn grieving and expressing reason for sorrow is okay to do. When Job expressed mild questions, it felt like YHVH rebuked him in His Reply, “Where were you?” So I’ve held back voicing my heart’s questions and such. I can almost hear the Father saying that to me, after I lament my life and how it unfolded. Anyway. Thank you. It was wonderful to learn lamentations had poetic structure, acrostics, and no final explanation for it all.

ISAIAH 25 - LAMENTATIONS “He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken.” (Isaiah 25:8) WORDS BY: FATHER "When I said I will wipe away all tears, I meant it. But why wait until the next life for this to happen? Can I not wipe away your tears while you still draw breath? Is that an impossible thing for Me to do? I am more willing than you realize and if you look to the redemption of the cross, you’ll be set free from any burden you carry. The price was already paid for your freedom, so the moment you release a burden at the cross is the moment I am faithful and just to free you from it. However, when people cry out to Me, it is not always with a pure motive. Many come to complain to Me or confess only parts of their heart while they deny and supress the deeper matters. You may come to Me to speak about a fruit, but what if I want you to focus on the root? Are you open for this? Suppressing issues will never give the freedom you need and you will always be on the back foot, lacking the initial fruit to overcome. What am I able to give to such people who supress things? My biggest lament is not when I see My children with many problems but when My children don’t want to be helped. Problems are easy to deal with but the disease of resistance is not easily cured because in whatever state it is in, it refuses to be helped intentionally or unintentionally. If you desire My help, then you must take the path of least resistance. The ability to be humble to receive correction will bring life and a cleansing from all tears because I am faithful to fulfil My promise. So whatever state in life you find yourself in, remain humble, rejoice and be glad in My salvation and I will swallow up death in victory, for thus I have spoken."

Thank you for that very good description of the book of Lamentations. Over this last 10 years or so my spirit has thought of that book and felt the urge to cry out to the people and to our God. It is a beautiful book. I understand it so much better through your outline. Your time and talent are greatly appreciated. Praying for all of the body of Christ everywhere.

Watching again and praying for Ukraine. I cannot understand it. I must trust God for His plans. I was glad Tim said it's ok to ask God questions. I hoped He would help like with the Israelis. Maybe He is but we are not seeing it. The slaughter and suffering is so great. They are correct...if they lose, so do we all. I also noticed that God shows up in a different timetable than we have. It could be tomorrow, a week, or many years. It is hard for us who have issues now and will be long dead before the answer comes, but it does come. And if we are "dead," it does not matter anymore. We are happy.

Your "breaking down" of the Bible text is very helpful. You reveal the structure of the original language and make sense of it in everyday speech. I am greatly appreciative of this work by "BibleProject" for what was first confusing becomes easier to grasp and thus for me to renew/strengthen my faith in the LORD GOD. Once again, thanks.

We are currently studying Lamentations. What with this being Lent and the horrors in Syria on our screens, the Bible is seen again as very relevant. So too is this thoughtful and balanced analysis, that puts the raw grief and despair into both a historical context. And a theological context. We can too often smother our distresses, or let them smother us! We need to serve them up- hot- to God. Well done for this great Lamentations briefing.

Reproach came upon those who twisted the word of God. Daughter of Zion is the one who bares everyone's sin and has a direct line to God. When the word of God gets twisted, it bothers my Spirit to no end. The wrath that came on me, was because of 1 person. Remours and lies, were spread across every nation and tongue against me. I have had no one to help me, but God. Because I have been hurt, it is they will suffer because they have to pay the price of what they have done to me. God is a fair and righteous God. Getting ready write and it is going to be clearer than ever before. ❤

What really gets me through all of this is that the Lord allowed their suffering. People died. Women and children. I know the Lord is just, but it sits funny with me that these are his people. Their sins lead them to this place and he allowed it to take place as much as it broke his heart. My spirit is really wrestling with this book.

Among Roman Catholics this book is most frequently used during the service of Tenebrae, a long and gravely solemn liturgy held on the nights before Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, with only candlelight for illumination in the darkened church. It is meant to express grief over the death of the Savior as well as sorrow for our sins, and the readings from Lamentations (the first three of the nine appointed for each night) are frequently chanted in an especially mournful tone.

Quick story... as a child ii was bad I had wickedness just in me so hard to explain but it was there. I loved to read as a kid and could finish books in no time. My father was a true believer and often pushed me to read the Bible. I would try but no matter how hard ii tried ii just couldn't understand it. Or I'd forget half of what ii read. Years later ii challenged myself to read the whole Bible. It was so odd because not only could ii read but ii understood it at well. Or at least I could come up with my own interpretation. Today ii read but still can find such understanding with these videos I just 2ant to say thank yu

There is an historical tradition that goes back thousands of years that Jeremiah wrote this book. There is a possibility that the final chapter was added after the destruction of the second temple which occurred on the same date 657 years later.

Even aside from the educational religious value of BibleProject's book-by-book summaries, I'm impressed over and over that somebody behind the scenes at BibleProject took the time and effort for the artistic details. ex. "God is slow to anger," animates the word "slow" to be drawn at a slower speed, then we see regular speed for the rest of the verse. I think the care put into those artistic details really does improve the overall potency of the religious message. Plus, it does so without alienating, angering, annoying, or turning off viewers who are skeptical of organized religion.
