I heard him sing this in concert last year and I every time I hear it I get launched back into the concert.

My husband sang this song to me just before we were engaged many years ago. He gave me a wilted flower, a box of candy with a small bite out of each piece, a lighter and a beautiful emerald ring. He said; " This flower may be wilted but if you take a sniff you can still smell her perfume and as our love ages may it always be as fragrant. This box of candy with a bite out of each piece shows even if they aren't perfect each piece is still as sweet. This lighter will help us when we get lost so we'll always be able to find each other when dark times may come. With this ring I offer you a promise that I'll always be your bestfriend, your lover, and husband. Will you marry me?" We were married and until he passed away he kept his promise. When I listen to this song I go back to when we danced in our kitchen, he would come up behind me and take my wrists and sway me as we twirled around. Our children when small would giggle, when they became teenagers, ( we used the lighter alot in those days, lol.) they made gagging noises but as each went out into the world and found their place they to found someone to dance with. When their father passed each one of them spoke with me about our marriage and how as each one grew they realized that was what they wanted to. I lived a useful life, a good life, but the best of my life was when we were together. From the first day we met, ( we shared the last hotdog at a race car meet, we both loved the same condiments, lol.) He said that was when he knew I was his future wife. I knew he was mine three weeks later when he saved a kittens life by scraping the side of his brand new John Deere to dig around the pipe where George was stuck and he kept him. I love and miss him every single day, but I know he wants me to be here for our children and grandchildren. I am a very lucky woman, and I wouldn't change a moment I had with him.
