@@BookedPanda yes, I've read The Lesser Devil and Queen Amid Ashes. Both are worth the read but not critical imo.

I'm telling myself I have to wait to read the novella until I get done with my others this month. Debating trying to order the third book so that maybe it will be here before April.

This is an amazing series, tbh I believe once all said and done, it may go down as the GOAT sci-fi collections. Great review!

I had the impression that this is only about 40,000 years into Humanity’s space exploration. I recall him saying at one point their civilization was a quarter million years old, I think he means that’s when the first homo-sapiens emerged

That is probably the correct understanding, I might have misspoken in my excitement. I had to delete your first comment as it seemed to be a spoiler for future books and now that is going to be stuck in my head. 😧

@@BookedPanda not a spoiler, I’m just starting the second book! It says that pretty early on but since they’re so far removed and don’t consider each other the same species anymore, it barely gets mentioned

Ahh, sorry about that then. Now I have to go listen to the beginning again to find that. I kind of remember something but I thought they were talking about the Extrasolians pirates not the Cielcin.

I enjoyed this book but it didn’t blow me away like it did many people. I’ve nearly finished book 3, and so far each book gets exponentially more interesting and epic.

I can understand that. It wasn't until we started to find out more about the ruins and Ceilins (?) that I started to love it. Really hope my copy of book two comes in the mail soon.
