I have this book. Interesting book. Really enjoyed it. Read it again just before gradings for a refresher

Fascinating review Grand Master. I must get this book. Stuart Anslow also did independent research and a 2 volume book on the ITF patterns showing self defence applications for the movements. I think l should get those books as well. It would be interesting to review these also and see what the ITF Grand Masters like yourself make of them.

Nice review Sir, thank you! Just got it as have my 1st Dan grading coming up next week. One comment to make about the date discrepancies- I also noticed those a couple of years back possibly around the time of learning about Ang Chang Ho. And this frustrated me so I did a bit of digging around and found that Korea only adopted the Western calendar sometime in the 1960’s and also Koreans have their own way of counting a persons age- ie everyone is born at age 1 and also have one year added at New Year! So there will always be a 1/2 year discrepancy in age! In other words it’s probably the same effect as Romanising the Korean terminology that you mention- the source is correct, interpretation/spelling is slightly different!?

Hello GM! A while ago I have a concern: Are TKD terminology "created" by GM Choi Hong Hi for ITF TKD? Because only a few words match when I use the Korean translator. Thanks GM!

Yes. The terminology was created for ITF Taekwon-Do. Not all the terminolgy would be understood by Korean speaking people without knowledge of Taekeon-Do.

I read the Taekwon-Do pattern practical application book from Mr Anslow. I didn't really enjoy the book, though, as I believe most of the applications shown by Mr Anslow are not very realistic

Of course they aren't realistic, nothing in patterns are.

More realistic than any application you were taught as 'TKD' apps, as most are based on the original source. Though if you feel the 'TKD' applications are more so.. then thats up to you. Free Will :)

I disagree, the ones he laid out I thought were very realistic, certainly more realistic than the typical modern applications at the very least.

@@hellawaits6544 If you fight mma style in your tkd class and it works,that's an application,otherwise its nonsense.You cannot theorise about applications and that's what anslow has done.
