A Discovery of Witches has been everyday in my mind and heart for I believe almost 4 years now. It's one of those rare books that has so many details it feels real, it's rich and detailed; as for the romance I would not describe it as angst, but more as a mutual discovery and acceptance. The TV show is also amazing. This story means very much for me, it raised my standards for a romance (even in real life) and for what I should expect from a story. Wonderful details that are just mindblowing to consider after finishing the trilogy. An all time favourite. What I feel for this series is truly a deep, rich and powerful everlasting love.

Yes to A Discovery of Witches!! Love that entire series. Can't wait for the next book. Also I highly recommend the TV show. Can be dark and spooky, but also the romance is great. I will forewarn you: I got Twilight vibes from the first book. It goes away after the first book, but still the main guy lead is uhhhh not the best in the first book. BUT the rest of the characters, the setting, the historical fantasy elements (ESPECIALLY in the second book!!) make this series a fantastic read.

A Discovery of Witches to me is one of the most underrated books out there. It really gave me those old school fantasy vibes with the vampires, witches and other creatures. A great pick for the fall! I think I might reread it.

A Discovery of Witches has a 'real time reading companion' guide! (it's a free kindle download) The book starts on the 18th September I believe, and there's a calendar in the guide that shows you what chapters happen on what day, with some background information as you go along! It's a really fun way to read it and I definitely recommend it.

I agree, autumn and winter are the best reading seasons. Nothing feels better than grabbing a good book, a hot cuppa, and have a snuggle. I love this list!

So Discovery of Witches...the first is very paranormal fantasy in genre, the second is more of a historical fiction fantasy and the third has a little more sci fi feels with fantasy. There are so many characters to love. I've met the author and she is fantastic herself. She brings her academic background into the books and it is fabulous.

Really so interesting! It’s funny what you pull out of a synopsis when reading it over and then how wrong you can be when you actually pick it up ahaha 😂

@@PeruseProject well, there is a romance that is forbidden, slow burn as well! I hope you enjoy it! There is also a fourth book out and others on the way. The author said that the characters will literally not leave her alone.. lol

The romance is oh, SOOO GOOD!!! The main characters are my favourite characters and couple EVER! As has already been said in this thread, the series starts with a paranormal romance, then goes into historical, paranormal romance, then sci-fi, paranormal romance. The romance is in every book and it only gets more and more intense. The 4th book, Time’s Convert focuses on different characters, that appear in the original trilogy but they have their own story, along with the main characters from the trilogy being side characters. I’m SOOOOOO excited for you to read it! It hardly gets any buzz on booktube and it’s my favourite book EVER!

A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES is amazing. One of my favorite series. I have no idea why booktube isn’t into it. I would recommend watching the tv show after you read the whole series cause you’ll understand it more since it’s a bit different than the books

A Discovery of Witches is so great. I’m a sucker for that kind of romance. I haven’t read the fourth book but the original trilogy is something I definitely recommend

LOVE LOVE LOVE A Discovery of Witches! Probably one of my favorite books ever. I did not think it was slow nor over dramatic, I felt it was more adventurous and I loved all the different settings. The second book (Shadow of Night) is even better! I’d like to note that I never was into vampire/witch stories until I read this one.

I absolutely adore it too!!! I own the UK hardcovers (I’m English), which I got signed and personalised when I met Deborah Harkness in 2016, and I have the US hardcovers too, which I really want to get signed if she ever comes back to the UK. Have you watched the show???

Hi, I also have to chime in to express my love for A Discovery of Witches! I first picked it up in 2013 after college and I finally had free time for leisure reading. Book 2, Shadow of Night, is my favorite in the series. I was a Theatre major so the historical Elizabethan setting was really exciting to read. Anyway, after reading the series physically, I listened to the audiobooks. The narrator, Jennifer Ikeda, does an excellent job with all the characters. Highly recommend!

A Discovery of Witches is SOO GOOD. I have re-read that trilogy so many times. The setting is certainly fall vibes.

A discovery of witches is one of my favorite books of all time. You will love it! The second part of the series is a bit slow, but things pick up in the 3rd book. The 1st book is just amazing! As for me, this fall I plan on reading Dune, all if the books in the series.

A Discovery of Witches is my most favorite book! The All Souls Trilogy is absolutely amazing, the book has so much more to offer than the show! It’s my fall series staple, I start every September! So glad your going to read it!!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

I LOVE discovery of witches trilogy, but it's so underhyped imo! Barely anyone talks about it online (that i've seen) but it's just really cool. It also covers vampires who attempt to study their genetics to discover where they and other "monsters" came from and just YES. A discovery of witches definitely has dark academia vibes in the first book too :) recommend HIGHLY

I love The Way of Kings! It is my all time favorite book! I actually heard about the book from your channel! It is truly a life changing fantasy novel!! I am currently reading the second book now and it is sooooo good!

Oh man I’m so excited to see what you think of wheel of time. I’m on book three and feel like so far every book has gotten better. Also really want to read jade city and middle game but I read slow and have so many things I want to read 😭 I guess that’s a good thing

I’m also currently re-reading The Way of Kings after 6 long years! I never got to the third one but going back to this has made me appreciate the series even more! I’m very excited to read Oathrbinger and Rhythm of War later this year.

I really loved the Discovery of Witches book, I think you will enjoy it as well. This book is also a TV series on HBO, the chemistry of the main characters is amazing and breathtaking ❤️

even if you dont really love eye of the world i HIGHLY recommend that you continue reading the series, because i’m about to begin book 6 and eye of the world has been my least favorite of the lot so far (even though it was still a 4 star read for me), so keep that in mind 💕💕

Chelsey R I just read this Saturday. I had a glass and a pop can on the arm of the sofa. I was reading one of the late chapters when I poured the rest of the pop into the glass. I’m in a tense spot, and my fan blows the can onto the wood floor. I nearly ran out of the house 🤣 that’s a sign of a great spooky book!

You’ve got lots of great books lined up for the fall. As for A Discovery of Witches, it sounds like you’re going in with the right attitude. Expect some cheesiness, i.e. vampire yoga, and definitely some dramatic Alpha male romance, but it has a lot of fun elements and great atmosphere for fall. It might be a good lighter read between some of the more serious fantasies in your list. Happy fall! 🧡💛🧡

I found Dune to be a slog to get through in the beginning but once I was 100 pages in I absolutely devoured it!

Yes yes please read the wheel of time series!! PS the first book is very similar to lord of the rings but the story grows so much from the second book. And in this book women are more powerful than men so there is a bit of reverse sexism and that could be a bit annoying and frustrating at times but apart from that the plot is so goood. I really hope you enjoy it tbh😅

I loved Middlegame! There is a middle grade story often referenced in the book, and Seanan Mcguire is actually coming out with it in October! I'm also doing a reread of The Stormlight Archives before Rhythm of War comes out!

Huge fan of the Discovery of Witches series but yeah there are moments where it feels like a grown up Twilight but with dark academia vibes 😂. I'm leaning towards picking up Jade City after hearing you talk about it!!

So excited for Fall! Planning to finally read Night Film and get to Oathbringer before book four gets out in November. Also finishing The Dragon Republic before the last book in the trilogy comes out.

I read Eye of the World recently as well and honestly, I thought it'd be a little tedious and boring too. BUT it actually surprised me. It had very captivating writing and I liked the intrigue and trajectory of the characters -- there's a classic quest narrative which is very fun. I want to say "I loved X character" but I've been so sketchy about knowing character names cos I don't want to know ANYTHING about the series, so I'll keep my lips zipped. Spoilers be everywhere. Enjoy yourself!!! Looking forward to these books popping up in your vlogs. :D

You’ll love the Eye of the World! It’s very derivative of Tolkien but I like it better! And the whole world starts to come into its own and expand a lot after book two! It’s so great!

From blood and ash is amazing I just finished the sequel a kingdom of flesh and fire and it was so good didn’t want to put it down the whole time I was reading . the first book is amazing and the second is just breathtaking I recommend reading the books back to back because the first one ends in a cliff hanger and you are definitely going to want to start the second one right away. 🙂📚

Rereading Words of Radience right now,got the Jade City will definitely read this fall! But I need more witchy books lol. I really loved Discovery of Witches,neither of the characters are perfect but character development is amazing during this series so keep that in mind while reading macho scenes,some people DNF it because of those,2. book is my favourite!
