This is a fun video topic and im glad you didn't throw Harry Potter in there cuz that one is fairly obvious lol 😄 I have some you might didn't know had school settings. Slayer by Kiersten White which has watcher academy for learning how to hunt vampires and demons..Elementals Ice Wolves by Amie Kaufman where this boy has to enlist in a wolf academy to save his sister whose became a scorch dragon. I think Rithmatist is a fun to mention by you. I think that would make a great Netflix show. Thanks for the great recommendations. Happy Reading everyone 👋💜

I totally agree on how well done the action scenes are in Skyward. Action scenes aren't really my favorite part of a story but author made me feel like I was along for the ride. And the end scenes had me acting like I was watching a movie, shouting at the book and jumping out of my seat!

Ooh, I love school settings, especially magic schools. My all time favourite is the White Tower in the Wheel of Time series. The Aes Sedai are awesome. The prequel novella The New Spring gives us a wonderful glimpse to the life and training of an Accepted. You should definately do a part 2 video with even more school books. Do include Earthsea, The New Spring, The Red Sister, Vita Nostra etc.

Great video! Just a suggestion but I think your set up could be tweaked a little. I'm familiar with the majority of books you mentioned but at times it was difficult to see the covers because they were held up behind your mic so it may be hard to look up books mentioned if people miss the title or author when you first introduce the book. I still really enjoyed this video though and find your content very engaging.

Call me stupid (or just clock me for not being a native English speaker, I guess) but I thought that a "quartet" was primarily a musical term for a composition featuring four singers or musical performers, and that a "tetralogy" is the term for a series of four books? Also, I am SO glad to see Skyward and Nevernight featured in this video! They were genuinely such enjoyable reads.

With young adult, i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Medoran Chronicles by Lynette Noni. After 2 books, it does kind of steer away from the school setting, but even so, the series is a tonne of fun, love the author's writing style, and the story is very well rounded. People often say that the way it STARTS is sort of like a crossover between Narnia and Harry Potter, but it does eventually take a very unique route.

I love good school fantasy books. My favourite type is when autor use both fantasy/horror and some classic detective work, in type on Nancy Drew. It is great to have story set in small town with conection to history ( civil war, old school building, haunted mansion, old cementary), when we see how characters try to solve this mystery. They read books, visit library, haunted mansion , brake into school at night, search at the cementary catacumbs etc. I like when they have some powers or magic connection. Some of them can be different species if it is made well. No Twilight werewolf&vampire romance threesome, because it is just terrible... We can have vampire& werewolf romance, but do it not like in teen wolf, twilight, buffy vampire slayer or vampire diares. Please. I hate stories, where autor use "this town is world most paranormal place trope" to justify why Loch Ness monster, egypt deities, vampires, aliens, yeti and dragons are on this city. No, no, no! You can make paranormal place, but keep good taste. Not try to mix whole world mythologies into one. It will not work well. Also no evil villain businessman who want dominate world, if he control this city... Author should rather create good fantasy setting in normal world, than lineal good&evil and random paranormal with no reason. I prefer high school, because characters can be more mature. It should be realistic story, not few 16/17 that act like innocent 10 yo. They should drink, have real relationships, cheat on someone, took revenge, go to the parties, be more human. They should use their powers mostly for their own good than to be superheroes. Pack of kids that are together because of circunstances is good. It can be cheearleader, football capitain, smart one, weird girl, bad girl, some guy and of course main hero, our boy detective. But make them more grey or black than white. No mesiah syndrome. Then in my opinion story can be good, not like 10000 similar boring "fantasy, school, romance"
