Welcome to another book recommendations video! In this one, I'm going to be recommending you short books. These are all books you can read in less than a day or maybe in one sitting. The best kind of books to read if you're currently in a reading slump! I have 12 books I wanted to talk to you about (technically it's more but never mind hahah). I hope you enjoy the video and take care 💛

Yes, short books! I love single sitting novellas, really reinvigorates my reading habit, reminds me I can read and finish a book when my attention makes it seem long ones are impossible. Passing was great, such a classic, and a really nice flow that also helps it be a single sitting rather than multiple short sits.

This video came at the absolute best time. I don't have much time to read recently and I don't like starting-stopping long books over a very long period of time, so short stuff is just what I need, thank you for the recs!

If you have not read Becky Chambers's most recent two books, A Psalm for the Wild Built and A prayer for the Crown Shy, I HIGHLY recommend. Each are about 150 pages. I would read a million books just like it.

Hi Christy, thanks for the great recs! You may also like Leila and the Blue Fox, by the same author as Julia and the shark, I was sent an arc and it was fab! Also The Last Bear by Hannah Gold is gorgeous! For graphic novels Lore Olympus is excellent based on the story of Hades and Persephone. Take care x

I recently bought your book and thoroughly enjoyed it! I didn’t read it in a single sitting though, I’d read a bit each night before bed, and managed to stretch it out over a week. Love Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane was brilliant. And since we seem to have similar taste in books, I’ve just done click and collects on Drop Bear and Onibi - Diary of a Yokai Ghost Hunter from two of my local bookstores. Might have to hunt down Wise Women as well, I have the Angela Carter book of Fairytales and have always enjoyed that.

I’ll throw my own rec in here: All Systems Red by Martha Wells is a lovely little science fiction short story!! I read through it in around an hour and a half, it’s a witty post-human story told from the point of view of Murderbot, a sentient robot designed for protection. Wells is still adding to the series it’s a part of, if you like the first one :)

If you want a really great and heartbreaking read you can do in one day (and watch the movie adaptation to!) I highly recommend Dream Boy by Jim Grimsley. I've never not finished it in one sitting and as much as it makes me cry it's such a well written piece!

Hi there! I've been sorta binging your videos lately because I find them so peaceful and relaxing plus they get me wanting to read more which is awesome since I've not been doing for a number of years. I decided to comment when you said you wanted to get more into graphic novels, had to throw in my 2 cents; I highly recommend "Nimona" and "V for Vendetta". Two opposites tonally and art wise but both are fantastic, Nimona was my favorite book in general for a bit when I first got it 10 or so years ago. Anyway, I love your vids, they've sorta become my go tos to unwind. Hope you get around to more graphic novels, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. Btw, where you get the music for your vids? That's like 50% of the relaxation aspect I find in your content and I'm just curious if it's simply royalty free piano or not. Many thanks 🙃

I love Banana Yoshimoto but I haven't read Moshi Moshi. I was glad to hear your review of it. I've read both Passing and The Woman in the Purple Skirt. I agree with your assessment of them, but I thought The Woman in the Purple Skirt was kind of weird. It kept me reading it though! I tried reading The Ocean At the End of the Lane once but it was too dark for me because I was already in a dark mood. I plan to try to reread it at some point. As always, I love your videos!

Love the recommendations! I just finished 2 books this month that are slim reads you could get through in a day: Emily Itami's Fault Lines about a Tokyo housewife who is dissatisfied with her marriage 224 pages - 5 hour audio is lovely. Becky Chamber's A Psalm for the Wild Built is a sci-fi parable conversation on purposeful life 147 pages.
