I'd read them all repeatedly. The books that I own have been read five times or more each. I have had the same books for years. Only own about 20 books. My need for books is desperate. Haven't read any new books in years. No money and no library transportation. No book loving friends either. Actually, no friends at all. Unless you include fictional characters. Or my dog.

For odd sized books, lay the tall skinny ones does and use the aesthetic short chubby ones in the center on top of the tall skinny ones. All the other books should go from tallest on the edges down to shorter. It created a mini shrine feel

Dude, I am SO THERE with you on the annoyance of books not matching despite being the same format. I bought a paperback edition of The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell at Walmart on a whim one weekend. It's about the standard dimensions of your average paperback in terms of height and width. When I saw the sequel. The Devil's Thief. was coming out in hardback, I was a bit peeved that I had to wait a while for the paperback edition to release. Then, Amazon surprised me with an option to order it in paperback early, so I jumped on it - even though there was no prime benefit to it. Then when I got it, I WAS FURIOUS!! This "paperback" turned out to be as tall as your typical tall hardback! So next to each other, there's like a full inch difference and I just get so irritated when I look at them together! I love the books though and would recommend them to you, btw.

When you say 'what up reader fam' it gives me happiness. My book that gives me nostalgia is probably 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl because it was the first book I ever really enjoyed reading because it was not for school. I jope you have a great day to whoever is reading this. :)

Lol. I too have no really organization method beyond "these books vibe together". I'll start out trying go by genre, but then I like to keep authors together and I have a bunch that write in multiple genres so... Things just go where they go.

one of many books that makes me “time slip” is “The Mark Of Athena.” It takes me back to 2017 when I first read it (there are a lot of creases in the spine). It was significant to me because at the time, I’d written a note in it that said “I read this in 8 days! No joke!” I was really amazed because I’d never read a book that long that fast before 😂

The book that I slip back in time with is “All the Bright Places” by Jennifer Niven. I was going through a really difficult time with my mental health and struggling with depression and other triggering things so I won’t say. However, I read this book in one day and I was crying. I just felt so connected to the characters and the story. I read it shortly after I got out of one of my inpatient hospital stays. It was a while ago, but I think it’s time for a reread

There are many books that make me slip back in time. I think the most vivid memory comes to my mind when I think City of bones. I remember that it was a late night (around 12am) around Christmas time and I had just finished the movie "mortal instruments: city of bones". I just loved it so much and I remember myself pacing in my room being super excited because I wanted to read every single book in the series and find out what happens later on. And after a few days I got the first book. It was the year (2016). It was when I started actually reading and loving books. Until then I hadn't really read any books. So I'm really thankful for the movie and for the mortal instruments and infernal devices because they sparked my interest in books. Without this series, i honestly don't know if I would be the same person.

Great video, Jesse! I love both your calm and chaotic videos, they're both fun, I'll watch anything you're in tbh. I don't have a whole lot of books, but I organize mine mostly by author and series (I could never split up a series, it would feel so wrong) but I also kinda just do whatever looks good. I feel like all the books I've read/own feel special to me, I can't really think of a specific story tied to a book.

The organization I try is keep series together. After that I stick all my hand backs and same size together and all small paperbacks together. My book that has damaged is my big Song of ice and fire history of the lands of Westeros book. (Yes the one that’s like $50-$80 and is the big red one) I saved up and got it and proceeded to carry it around with me because I love the world and would read it between class. The corners got damaged and I have taped them up to keep it looking nice. I love the book and haven’t fully read through it all but will at some point!

3:45 Yeah I feel you, I’ve left the last book/season of so many books and tv series because once I’ve finished them my relationship with the series is over. The worst is when I read the first few ones over and over but never the last book 😭 The First Test by Tamora Pierce is a book that makes me slip back in time. I can remember the first time I picked that book off the library shelf and the fond smile that appeared on my face every time I spotted it on a library/bookshelf after. I loved Keladry as a protagonist and it’s probably the moment I fell in love with female warriors which now permeates every creative aspect of myself.

My favourite books on my bookshelf are those 10 books I bought when I was on holiday in England. I felt so happy that I could walk into a bookstore, and not have to look for the "english section" which is usually only 1-3 bookshelves here. I live in Denmark, but I prefer reading in English, and most books i have to order online, cause they don't have that many books in the English section.

I was trying to sleep,(where I live,it's 2:00 in the morning) but then somehow turned on my phone and saw your notification. I guess I've achieved the power of telepathy :D

I’ve always loved your bookshelves even though you don’t have an organization method! But the height thingy is big goals, it looks very pleasing. As for me, I enjoy reorganizing my bookshelves, probably because they don’t really change around a lot 😂 The most important thing for me is putting all author’s books in one place (they’re usually same height and type so that’s a bonus point for the aesthetics), and then other authors of same genre. It’s easy since most of the books I have are fantasy and the rest are like classics lmao. They usually also don’t change their places since I’m used to how they look lol Good luck in organizing your bookshelves in your new place! I hope the new environment will make you more energized and in a better mindset. Have a nice day!

For that 2nd shelf that bothers you I find that if you put tallest books on the left and smallest on the right it looks pretty good. That's what I do on my shelves because I organise by genre so everything is a different size.

It’s hard to explain how I do my shelves but I do most of my small hardcovers together in alphabetical order. Then I do really tall hardcovers in alphabetical and then regular tall hardcovers. Paperbacks are the same. I’ve made sections where there is contemporary, LGBTQ+ fantasy/sci-fi, and retellings. All of my mystery/thrillers are also together, and Cassandra Clare has her own small 3 shelf bookcase. That is a really complicated explaining of my shelves 😂

A book that really transports my back in time on my shelves is my copy of Some Ether by Nick Flynn. It’s a beautiful collection of poetry that was lent to me by a college professor. Less than a week later I had a house fire in which a lot of my possessions were destroyed, but this little paper back poetry book survived. It has smoke damage on the cover but didn’t burn at all. Every time I look at it or read from it I’m reminded of that fire and of my college professor that gave it to me, in hope that I’d find enjoyment and inspiration from it.
