We then got told that we weren’t getting piped out, no big breakfast (most of us hadn’t eaten anything before coming because of the breakfast) and they threatened that they are considering to cancel prom. The majority of my year had nothing to do with the big pranks. Most people just had some silly string and party cannons which has always been allowed. Before i was told to go in the hall i seen staff popping balloons, ripping down banners and decorations people in my year had bought and hung up. I heard that it wasn’t just the SLT but other staff who rudely ordered people entering the school later to get in the assembly hall. It is utterly disgusting that any type of staff would act in this way. Theres no need to be rude. Just kindly ask the pupil to go to the assembly hall as something has happened. We were then separated off into our school houses to avoid anymore “shenanigans”. Our breakfast was given to us there and it consisted of a croissant, some jam, butter and juice boxes. We also got a cake. Apparently they had spent £500 and either binned or gave away the rest of what we were supposed to have. Yes, maybe the pranks were a bit off edge. There was flour and silly string on cars, which some of the people got on their own cars too, stink bomb in a corridor (happened before) and crickets let loose in some classes. I remember when i was in S1 someone in my year broke his leg due to that years muck up day. Already much worse but they still got piped out and a proper goodbye? Hardly fair. We got told in our guidance classrooms that basically others years have been worse than ours. We got kicked out at about 10am after saying goodbye to our guidance teachers and house. Some of us tried to ask if we could just be piped out in small groups or have some sort of way to say goodbye to everyone but were told no. A lot of people got quite emotional due to us not getting a proper goodbye from staff and other years like what always has happened on the last day. So thank you elgin academy, thanks for punishing the whole year for things that a small group done. Letting us all leave upset, confused and disappointed.
