As a fellow tuba player and a band baby I've been in band since middle school and now I'm in college, both bands have their own style and sound I give both bands a big hand clap. When I look at band videos on KZfaq it makes me happy to see black people doing something creative besides being out on the street so I rather see people arguing over who is better than who than hear y'all talking about who shot who.

I will start this comment with I am a Tuskegee grad....that lives in Hampton Va. SO I can say I have seen the majority of HBCU bands, from FAMU,TSU, and everything in between. These 2 hear though.....along with TennSU, FAMU, BCU, and NSU are the top bands in all the land. PERIOD!!! THOSE ARE MY TOP 5.......

These comments are humorous. Both bands did a great job, top two in the SWAC no question. I was at all of the events live and in person this weekend. I am a JSU grad and even Boom Alum agreed that they were outplayed with SU's song selection and arrangements. Sound/power wise it was a wash to me. It was back and forth and if I had to score the entire weekend it would probably be 10-8 SU.

Good vid. That was a good comeback by SU playing no flex zone after Jsu played flexin. But both did evenly great so stop all the hate. Everybody knows these are the two top bands in the nation. So quit talking about jsu like they suck and quit saying SU is extremely better cause they're not. They are both even and have their weaknesses and strengths

Both bands did really good! I love the Boom but when they play SU I am completely mutual. SU got the power and they are super clean. I feel they are both equally matched. War and Thunder killed it between the drumlines though.

The Boom's arrangement of "I've Seen it All" was beastin... The volume and fullness was already on 10, but at 28:36 and 28:39 it went up to 10+++... Love the The Boom!!!

I was at the game on SU side and the boom brought that fye when they got in....that ass was sore from the gym....GREAT BATTLE BOTH DAYS...BUT U SHOULD NEVER LET THE OPPOSING BAND COME OVER AN HOUR LATE AND NOT GET THEY HEADS CRANKED on while marching in AND then ALLOW THEM TO COME THRU THE DOOR BLOWING WIT 2 MIDDLE FINGERS.....#EPICWEEKEND

Kisasa Bell i give southern the edge. But to say they sound like a high school is just ridiculous. We all hear SU's powerful arrangements. But all these years it's been all about power for Southern. Now when Jackson opens up the stadium with that first note.... it quickly turns to loud and sloppy. We both know that's not true. Just give JSU credit. ... and get off the " high horse" you juke fans are known for.

Yes, they took the W in the gym jam, no doubt. But pound for pound at the game we took this W. From zero all the way to the 5th. Now I can talk firsthand because I was there each time they played and y'all overhype them.

It's expected that jsu would be louder (which it isn't by much), they're are much bigger, but who sounds better SU, balanced and full all around....and by the way SU is the real power band, jsu is loud and thin. Just thought you should know kid.

Battle of the bands is a MEAC thing, SU only battle with Grambling State at the Bayou Classic. This battle was JSU Idea and a good investment for both bands. I truly enjoyed the battle. I thought both bands represented themselves well. I got my money worth.

These are college bands, having sound is a given, anyone can pick up a horn & be loud ! It's about musicianship, it's about precision & perfection, it's about balance within the band, southern has 99.9% of that, they're loud, technical & articulate, not to take anything away from jsu, I'm a fan of both schools, but Southern won this, they always win because no one can match their arrangements. That's just my #Opinion

I said the same thing about bands playing at same time. Jsu was playing and then su just started playing while jsu played. It only create fuss as my grandma would say. I thought that was immature of su new band director. First impression i can tell he has to grow up a little and his band members are following. I wanted to here both bands. Neither band was better both are best in there own way. Jsu could have done better on the feild show. I've seen better more creative shows from Jsu when they play su. It might just be the end of Dowell Taylor days.

It's a football game. There's no rule stating that one band has to sit there and wait 3-5 minutes for the other band to finish a song before they can play. Never has been, never will be. Just like in a war; You're not necessarily required to sit there and wait for the opposing army to stop firing before returning fire. Both bands did it, so there's honestly no need to whine and complain about it. That's what the Fifth quarter is for.

And yall are right. I would have played on the boom or the jukebox or any other band if that's what I wanted to do. All I was saying is it really causes noise. YOU CANT HEAR NEITHER BAND OVER THE OTHER. I think the battle of two large bands should come one song after the other school plays. I mean its not in any record books but I guess Im speaking like an ole school musician so I assume yall right.
