Being there in person, not gonna lie I thought it was gonna be harder to choose who took the W but Southern was on their A-Game with every selection. Not to say JSU didn’t have good moments but overall definitely would have to give it to SU. I don’t know the whole rule about having to leave but I wish it would have went longer since JSU played about 3 songs as SU packed up.

In my opinion Mr. Simmons & Mr. Taylor step out of the shadow of Mr. Haymer and officially let everyone know SU will be alright with them running the show. I say that because, let's just think what type of pressure they had to be under coming into this game. Simmons is a monster arranger. At the same time...nearly EVERY one of these other HBCU bands have mediocre arrangers at best. I would love to see how the HBCU band world would be if these schools would stop hiring these arrangers who shouldn't be writing for college bands.
