I Live in Pa.; approximately 45 Miles outside of Philly. I'am currently 63; and turn 64 on October 20th. I had Spinal Fusion Surgery in early February. I was approved for full Disability for Social Security. Talking to Chris at Boomer Benefits; he quoted my a N Plan Supplement for about 119 a Month. I go on SS in January 2023. Chris said he would call back in October. Going with Boomer Benefits.

Thanks for this information. Under 65 disability here with VA. Medicare Advantage is my only option. Or could decline part B and wait until 65 for no penalties.

Excellent video. Question I have not yet fond the answer for - Say you are under 65 on disability with Medicaid, then in 2 years you are enrolled in Medicare Part A and B. You do not apply for Advantage because already covered under Medicaid, though then later are disqualified for Medicaid. Would one still get the 6 month window to get Advantage? State is Indiana - if it matters.
@BoomerBenefits
@BoomerBenefits 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom - If you were to lose your Medicaid, you would be given a Special Enrollment Period to apply for a Medicare Advantage plan. Regarding Medigap plans, your state may offer a Guaranteed Issue window that would allow you to apply for a Medigap plan without health questions. However, this varies by state! So we recommend giving our team a call at 817-249-8600 and we can look into this further for you. Cancer in 2005, Spinal Fushion in 2008, unable to acquire SS disability then...unable to work to earn enough work credits...should I get disability from SS now after all these years now that I am turning 65 in August?

Once you turn 65, you qualify for Medicare insurance, so it likely won't make much sense to apply for SSDI given that it can take a while for them to approve and you're so close to your 65th birthday. However, since we do not handle SSDI enrollment, we'd recommend contacting SS directly for more information on that! You can actually apply for Medicare now, so it will be effective 8/1. If you'd like to explore your plan options, you can give our team a call at 817-249-8600 and we'd be happy to help!

doesn't make much sense .... insurance companies (for supplemental plans) don't want my business due to being disabled & yet when I turn 65, said disability won't just magically vanish & yet they will all of a sudden welcome my business even though by then I may very well be in even worse health
@BoomerBenefits
@BoomerBenefits Жыл бұрын
We hear you, Jacob! The federal law does not require insurance companies to sell Medigap policies to those under 65. The insurance carrier is associating SSDI with high expenses in claims and therefore, they may choose not to offer any plans to those under 65 or they will increase the premium and offer less comprehensive plans. But, please know that once you do turn 65 yes old, you will have a second Medigap Open Enrollment to apply for a Medigap plan without underwriting and you can obtain a normal 65-year-old rate.

@@BoomerBenefits yes, that’s what I said re: at 65 all of a sudden all fine & dandy for getting whatever supplement plan, even though my healthcare costs (cost of maintaining my needs, that is) won’t be any less & if anything, probably worse

So for those of us that won't be taking Medicare until 65 are we supposed to apply on our birthday or the month before?

You will apply for Medicare Part A and Part B during your initial enrollment period, which actually starts three months before your 65th birthday. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mN1hZaR5y8fGeZc.html

You said if our employer has more than 100 employees that Medicare pays secondary. What am I remembering that it's 20 employees?

This video is all about people with Medicare under 65. People over 65 have different rules and the number is 20 for them.

Does diabetes qualify u for Medicare under 65
@BoomerBenefits
@BoomerBenefits Жыл бұрын
Hi there - typically, diabetes itself will not qualify you for disability but if you are having other symptoms with it - such as heart disease or kidney issues, you could qualify for it. We recommend reaching out to Social Security to see exactly how to qualify!

Confused, I became disabled and SS approved my disability back to date of first hospitalization on first application. AFTER 2 year waiting period my std turned to LTD and I paid for part B of SS Medicare and was able to keep my work PPO insurance. At first BCBS paid first then Medicare. About 8 months later my employer called and said I was considered a active LTD employee and that Bills in future needed to be submitted to Medicare and the remainder sent to my company plan BCBS. Company has 9000 employees. Company has a hSA but a disable person cannot participate. So I am confused based on your 100 employees why they changed it around? Also since to since I can’t work , and being optimist if I live to 65, will my SS benifits decrease by having to take SS at 65 versus normal retirement of 67? Thank you this is so confusing
@BoomerBenefits
@BoomerBenefits 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brett - Since your work has more than 100 employees, your employer insurance is primary and Medicare is secondary. To answer your second question, yes, if you take out Social Security benefits earlier your check will be less compared to what it would have been at full retirement age. Here is more information on this: boomerbenefits.com/when-to-apply-for-social-security/

@@BoomerBenefits well I been disabled with a incurable disease now for 17 years and Medicare is primary and Anrhem BCBS is secondary . I have not been able to work. Disease now has me bed bound most of the time and won’t make it to 65, I guess in my case no reason to rock the boat and be thankful I still have company insurance
