Also how does calling Mrs.Tillman a racist make sense? She's talking about Harry, who's white, not having a suitable character or "work history" to be eligible for the award in her son's name. The "racist" accusation is about as logical as the "Catherine is cloned" comment coming from a similar group of people. Whoever makes this stuff up, then gets idiots or employees to spread it around must be cackling with glee!
@leandabee

@@Demoiselle21was coming to say that 👍. Racist is just a nothing word in my book, as it's become a word to throw at anyone now. I could say the grass is green and someone could call me a racist because I didn't say it was brown 😅😅🤦🏼‍♀. I saw somewhere that someone was saying milk is racist because it's white 🙄. Unfortunately using that word for inane sh.. is taking away from people who are actually suffering racism ️.

Yes, ESPN is indeed doubling down by introducing Jake Wood who endorsed Harry as a worthy recipient of the Pat Tillman award. Jake won the 2018 award. But here's the thing. Harry through Archewell donated $250k to Jake Wood's organisation in 2021. Perhaps yet another "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" type of an award. Not a good look for ESPN. I know this subject is getting boring but thought I'll share.

Dear Shauna. When I was 15 (years ago) I was babysitting for a couple with 3 young children. Around 11 o’clock I checked on the children asleep in their beds. When I went to check on the baby in his crib, there was a white mist at the end of his crib. It disappeared and I thought it had something to do with the furnace. When the couple came home I told them about the “steam” by the crib. The Father said oh that’s just my mom, she watched over the baby. His mother had passed away in that house years ago

I had to write a second comment because of your man-off-the-roof anecdote. My dad, who was in his late 70s at the time, insisted on going up on the roof to cover the chimney, but my mum was terrified that he would fall so she waited at the bottom of the ladder to keep an eye on him. All went well until he was at the top of the ladder coming down. He slipped and fell but he landed fine and was unhurt. Mum on the other hand had a broken shoulder. He had landed right on top of her and smashed her onto the cement below.

Talking of milliners- I was supporting a lesson with a young English teacher who was preparing the class for the world of ‘Great Expectations’. I realised History wasn’t her strength and had gently corrected her a few times already, when she started to talk about employment and jobs, such as chimney sweeping. When she asked the class to suggest what a milliner was- her answer: a person who worked in a mill. I was left speechless and swallowing my giggles, but also not wanting to undermine her, I kept quiet, though I still have a lingering guilt that at least 30 people left that room not knowing what a hat maker is known as! Sorry!

Hi Shauna. I was thrilled to hear another pap test story because I thought I had missed the boat on being able to tell you mine. So here goes....Years ago, when I was young, I nervously scheduled a pap test and made sure I got it with a female ob-gyn thinking it would be somewhat less embarrassing. Boy, was I wrong! I am lying on the table after the requisite scooching down to the end of the table, hoping I don't fall off etc. etc. The test commences and I'm staring at the ceiling trying to think pleasant thoughts when the doctor says: "Is that a turtle?" I screech "WHAT???" and she hastily says "On your ring, on your ring!", pointing to my hands clasped on my belly. The ring in question was silver and featured a Haida sea turtle. Louise in Canada.

After the movie I proudly drove toward home in the dark feeling so grown up when embarrassingly I realized the big metal speaker box was still attached to my window with the cord flopping along the road. I started laughing so hard I could barely navigate and was utterly convinced the cops were after me so I flung the incriminating evidence out of the car as far as I could throw it. Then in your 30s you’ll have 2-3 kids, rushing to school/work, soccer/football. Cello/violin lessons, piano lessons, Indian guides/princesses, Girl/Boy Scouts, etc. etc. They would just look at me like I had two heads. I get a good belly laugh when I say something to my grandkids and they say "Mama says that all the time!" It's always something my mother said to me and I SWORE TO MYSELF I would never say that to my kids. ie., "Don't you roll your eyes at me", "Well to bad for youu because I don't care what everybody else's mother let's them do. I'm your mother and I said no". My favorite of all time, even though the child rearing experts say you should never say, but it worked for my mother, me, my daughter & son and will probably still be in use 100 years from now; "BECAUSE I SAID SO!" My daughter and daughter in law laugh about how it sometimes takes you by surprise when you open your mouth and your mother falls out.

Talking of scary happenings I have to tell you mine. Sorry if it’s a bit long. All my life I have suffered from sleep paralysis, basically you wake up aware of what’s going on but unable to move and quite frequently are dreaming of horrible scary things at the same time. I was about 12 it was about 2 or 3 months before my beloved great aunt died. I woke up in a paralysis episode to see a soldier in a World War 1 uniform standing at my bedroom door smiling and beckoning to me. It frightened the life out of me! The next day I was walking to school with my friend and the same man in the same uniform walked right past me smiling, I was really terrified then especially since my friend saw nothing and thought I was ‘at it’ . Anyway about 4 months later my aunt had passed and I was helping my mum go through her things when I came across a photo of her late husband (my great uncle) it was the SAME man in the trenches in the same uniform ! I have no idea what on earth it was all about but it’s definitely the spookiest thing that ever happened to me. Maybe it was a premonition but I’m glad I’ve never had another one!

Shauna thanks so much for the laughs! It is morning here in Florida enjoying the sips of coffee with you! Your story about the smoker at the gyno brought back a funny memory for me….Many years ago I had a red headed funny friend, an aide in the hospital where I was a young nurse. She came to work after a Dr. appointment laughing as she came down the hall, “ You will never guess what just happened to me” she went on to tell me that when she was up in stirrups, chatting away at the Dr. to quell her anxiety she noticed a smoky smell and then smoke rising from her netherlands! She yelled what’s happening and the Dr. replied jokingly “Although you have flaming red hair, it was just the cautery touching the gauze! She was still laughing and relieved it had not been a true “brush fire”! Still laughing as I enjoyed a long ago memory! Thanks Shauna!😂

I visited my best friend while she lived in Sydney. I’ll always remember we were at a mall and were close to the escalators. I saw an elderly lady coming down and she fell backwards on the escalator steps. She was struggling and I was afraid when she got to the bottom that her dress would get caught, so I ran over and scooped her up from under her arms, and all was well! I will always remember that. Then I noticed there was an emergency button. Glad to know in case it ever happens again. 😁

In Denver, Colorado they have a HUGE mall with 8 different parking lot colors. At Christmas you have to drive around to find a spot. I got so lost that the Security had to drive me around for about 45 minutes before we found my car. Unfortunately it was a new purchase and I think we passed it about 5-6 times before I realized I was looking for the car we used to have. I didn’t have the heart to tell the man I was so bonkers. I think he knew as that was the second time we had been in that lot! My husband just shook his head when I told him. His suggestion was to WRITE DOWN WHAT COLOR THE LOT AND ROW I WAS IN! I told him ”Well makes too much sense!”

The fact that you then told us, your sister made it, including material from your bridesmaid dress, and she put a personal message in it, that just changed everything about it. What a talent she has, and what sentimental keepsake for you, and your boys to cherish. I have two brother's, I won't hold my breath for a quilt, or anything else handmade.

Hi Shauna, Here's another bathroom story. One time I was driving along a highway and stopped at a servo in a small country town to get petrol and use the bathroom. There was a stink in the toilet, so I didn’t use it and just washed my hands. I drove another 130 km when out of the shimmering mirage a police vehicle emerged. I decelerated but it didn’t help and I was caught. I panicked when I couldn’t find my licence. The police radioed his station and phone calls were made and it was established that I had left my purse at the last servo. The police said he would escort me back to town. Twice I had to pull to the side of the road when the officer made a U-ie to book passing vehicles that were also zooming across the outback. Finally we reach our destination and I went up to the counter at the servo to claim my purse. I got a right royal telling off for leaving the toilet in a filthy state. I was so embarrassed that I was speechless. To this day, fifteen years later, I still feel tempted to go back to the servo to say it wasn’t me. As if I hadn’t already been punished enough, I still got a ticket.

Shauna, my late husband was the chef in our home and one day, we had planned to try a new chilli recipe. He sent me to the store to buy some of ingredients. I found everything except for the dry white wine. I looked down every single aisle but couldn't find it. An employee walked by and I asked them where the dry white wine was. He walked me to the beer and wine section of the store and pointed to a bottle of dry white wine. It took me a few seconds to realize that "dry white wine" was not POWDERED WINE!! I went home and told my husband and now he's told that story to everyone I know!

Your comment on car parks and forgetting where your car is brought back memories. Fifteen years ago I went to Chadstone shopping centre with my 4 year old son having not been there for years and years due to moving away. The place had changed. When we finished shopping I couldn’t find the car. I thought it had been stolen so I called the police in a panic. All the time my four year old was crying “what about my car seat? I can’t go home!” Whilst waiting for the police to arrive I calmed down a bit and realised I was looking on the wrong floor. I found it one level down and had to ring the police back and tell them not to come, it wasn’t stolen. Oops. All the way home , my son kept saying ‘mummy you lost my car seat”. Took awhile to live this little embarrassment down. 🤣🤣🤣

We all do these sorts of things. 😂 My husband and I attended a telecoms conference many years ago in Brighton. Parked our well-loved elderly Vauxhall Cavalier in one of the car parks by the sea front. We spent hours looking for the car late at night & reported the car stolen to the police. We were very upset as we loved the car & were shattered. At some point, we did decide to look in another car park, just in case - we managed to locate our car. I remember my husband humbly calling the police & apologising. I also went to open someone else's Green Peugeot 306 quite a few years ago at Sainsbury's once. I couldn't understand why I couldn't unlock the car. The owner called out why I was trying to get into his car.😜 Awkward....I forgot where I parked my Green Peugeot 306...😂

I remember the exciting grad dance/social at my private Catholic girls school and the boys from their school. In particular the horror of using fake tan and turning up NEON ORANGE wearing an olive green dress! The stink of the fake tan killing people at 20 paces. The boy I adored from afar asked me to dance and nearly choked on the fumes from the fake tan. OMG!

What a coincidence! I've been married to my husband for 45 years TODAY!!! (Just heard you read the comment from someone who's been married 45 years). We're actually away on a short break (Barossa Valley) to celebrate, but I still had to watch Gossip Before Bed regardless 😁. SIP!

I worked in the optical industry for over 20 years. Screws would come out of people's glasses and they would need them replaced. They would hand me their broken glasses and say 'I need a screw.' After 20 years, it was always funny to watch a young mans face turn red after realizing what they had just said. You could see the mortification sinking in. Occasionally there was the gross pervert who loved asking for one. You had to just look at them and say, 'old joke, don't even go there'
