Boosie described his experience with codeine as costly both financially and physically, admitting he likely spent around $1 million on the drug. His addiction was so severe that he had a whole drawer dedicated to bottles of codeine, which he said resembled liquid heroin in potency. The turning point came during a stint in prison, where the lack of access forced him into painful withdrawal-a seven-day ordeal filled with vomiting and diarrhea. The rapper stressed the importance of staying away from codeine, noting that even a single sip could pull him back into addiction. Despite being continuously surrounded by the substance in the music industry, Boosie has maintained his sobriety thanks to a strong military-minded focus.
