It is business. Nobody deserves anything. You have to work for it, add more value. You have to find angle and what kind of value you can add to the shipper. It's not an overnight success and it takes time. Build a good foundation with good system and team. Stay hungry for knowledge.

People work hard everyday, hard work doesn’t pay off. SMART work pays off. People want to be the mule then complain when their foolish ass gets rode on. Many don’t know what single factor separates the rich from the poor.. It’s not education, there’s plenty of people with college degrees. There’s plenty of people who have IQ’s over 130 who aren’t rich. It’s not hard work, there’s many, many hard-working people that aren’t rich. ( In fact many/millions are poverty poor. But Americans believe anything if enough idiots repeat the same crap over and over and over. ) It’s not opportunity, there’s opportunities everywhere. There’s opportunities being created everyday. It’s not luck, lucky people win the Lottery What separates the rich from the poor is ONE thing, the poor/employees are too desperate, conditioned, impatient, misinformed and foolish to unite and demand what they are worth. And the rich are too selfish and greedy to offer employees what they’re actually “ worth “ CEO compensation has grown 940% since 1978, Typical worker compensation has risen only 12% during that time While the poor are distracted and wasting time and energy over things they can’t change or have control over and debating over who or what’s to blame.. the rich are making money off their backs. Ironically, the poor keep the poor, poor. Don’t like the 💩 pay? the poor bastard behind you will do it while you’re blaming everything except the Muli-Millionaires writing ✍️ your check. When the poor are desperate they work for less than they’re worth keeping them not only poor, but desperate, while the rich laugh all the way to the bank with the money they f’ed them out of.

You nail it that the truth I thinking in bout 4 years to get into the van business been watching the videos and you make more sense how to get into the business and not struggle while Andrea is just talking about while you in the business and making money which that what the business transportation is about but he don’t really tells you there middle man’s taking the money from the drivers there a lot of fleet owner and lots of peaple in the business thinking they getting rich over the transportation but you tell it right up the business is not to be setup to be rich and lay back you got to work for the money and go get it one way or another way audrea just trying to make peaple think that it is easy to get into the business and then one of his video he say you have to drive with no sleep to make money and not set back then his other video will be oh just get a sprinter van and a 1 million dollar insurance and you all set to be in the business and oh easy it is but reality it not easy to keep your business running if you don’t set aside money to expenses on break downs you have said it in the past have money set aside for expenses cause you will have breakdown and that what I am doing and building money up to get my van that be paid off and have money onside for breakdown when I start up my daughter be out of school and just be me and my wife and I just going to get the money saving what I can when the 4 years mark is up and off to the races

I have learned so much from watching your videos Allan, please keep making them. I was well into getting ready to get a van of my own pre-virus. but those years damaged what cash reserves I had as it did with a lot of folks. I'm hoping that I'll be on the road next year. What this extra time has allowed is to keep a better idea on markets, routes and costs. Because of what this administration has done to the economy I now know that my original business plan would have not survived my first year of operation. Having had to wait this extra time I've been able to re-organize my business plans to better survive these harder economic times and crappy rates. One day Allan I hope we meet up at a truck stop somewhere and let me buy you a coffee

I was with Panther for under 6 months driving a sprinter van for a fleet owner. I enjoyed it while I was out there. If you want to get out there with minimal overhead and learn the ropes, I suggest getting hooked up with a carrier and fleet owner. Save some money and come back as an owner operator, you'll have way more flexibility! .

7am to 10pm our car rate is .93 cents a mile. At night it’s $1.28 a mile. Van rate is double the posted load rates. We don’t get the volume miles. I average 1200 to 2000 miles a week and don’t leave the Northeast.

A dollar a mile is just insane,this has been hurting the market for years I don’t know why expedite even call this making money , if you run 500 miles you should at least try to get 750-800 or it brings down the value of what people do in the industry but they let these companies make the pay instead of doing like the strikes that’s going on enough is enough stop running so far for so less, just to say I’ll get something coming back, it never has made since !

A high percentage of new operators never ran a business before and they fail. Fleet owners or carriers also make a mistake of thinking owning a fleet you make good money, this is not true unless you have a high percentage of high paying direct customers.

It’s annoying, if you think it’s unjust or whatever your problem is, grow some testicles, go out, buy a van, get the dispatcher to give you loads, get your insurance and then complain or bitch about getting exploited. By the way, I’m “JUST” a driver for a company in SC, been OTR full time for 9 months living in the truck (box truck with a sleeper, no CDL) and love it!! I’m about to buy a Sprinter type van in about 2 months. Point being , stop bitching and complaining and man up

As a driver for a owner, I don't understand why when dispatcher calls me with a load, why I'm wrong for asking any questions. Each and every time I ask a question about the load being offered, I don't get the load. If I just say, "Yes", and pray its fair money, miraculously it gets assigned to me. Why does working with dispatchers have to be a popularly contest? If you tell me the load is paying about a $1 a mile, or this run will be about $700, then why am I the bad guy when the actual pay is much lower? Then, I get a rep that I'm difficult and hard to work with!
@nickleplease

Dispatchers are bottom feeders, they don't care about you. They operate on volume and the rpm is their last concern, they are making their % if you accept the offer. You have to source your own freight to be viable

Hi Allen! Thank you for explaining how you started and how you progressed so my question is does it mean that when you saaid you got the Carrier out of the way would it be better to come on board with you vs a Carrier, or does a big Carrier like Panther or Tristate have still advantages or savings like insurance? Ive been out for a couple of yrs so i don't know if its changed but i used to love seeing on my bi wkly Settlement reasonable costs of $80. Now keep in mind my situation is alot different then most runners because smaller companys such as your self might have alot less runs to offer but it doesn't matter to me because i'll take it! Take care Sir.

My math is I need at least $ 1.00 per mile on road so I charge between 2 to 2.50 albeit I have customers I've worked for less and of course if I hit a homerun on a side job. He's exactly correct what we need to do is limit the brokers.

06:50 Yep, it is a "low barrier to entry". This might be controversial, but, I think anyone carrying commercial freight should have a CDL. Sprinters should have to have a CDL B. Still keep the 10,001 rule. But require a CDL. Why? To increase the barrier to entry, to increase the value of the driver. I also think mandatory drug testing would be good. I don't think a DOT med card is necessary. But a CDL B and a drug test would knock about 20% of the drivers off the road. That won't make rates 20% higher.. but I think a 10% increase in rates would result. If we could find away to keep flip-flop wearers off the road also... I would support that! But I doubt we come find a good way to do that!

It annoys the heck out of me that these videos talk about how much per loaded rate.. the rate should be calculated as job miles.. miles to collect load, to run load and to get to safe location (home/truckstop etc). My van doesn’t cost less gas when empty, my van isn’t cheaper to insure when running empty, it doesn’t run cheaper to repair when empty…. The true mileage rate is from when you turn the key to start a job, to when you turn off the key at the end of a job.
