I actually find it really interesting that he isn’t very good at reading and writing- it’s also just a really nice change of pace for a character in a game! Makes him far more deep and interesting that way

He is very much capable of reading, he read black swans note in 2.2 and can read the text messages, he is only partially illiterate, he cannot write Which -considering where how was raised- is a more common thing to learn and prioritize reading over writing

This reminds me of my uncle... He doesn't know how to read very well(because he dropped out of school as a kid), so he always sends audio messages, but the problem is that when he sends an audio message, 1% is him responding to the message and 99% talking to someone random 😅😅😅

I thought that it's because it's a bit hard to use a touchscreen when you don't have sensors on your fingertips and even vinyl gloves let you do it. That and it's also a little easier for some people to dictate their messages, since not everyone is tech-savvy enough to type in the letters and because English is often hard, even for some native speakers. However, there may be a possibility that Boothill does have artificial sensors through his cyborg limbs to where they can effectively mimic the sense of touch, but it's still fun to imagine other things. If so, then Boothill is favoring dictating his messages in favor of efficiency and that it's easier for him. Kind of hard to learn your letters when you're too busy with working the fields or hunting bounties.

You know, at first I was like "Haha he's just like me" but at this point, the only 3 things we're not similar is, the planet destroyed, the Cyborg body and the lore about his family in the destruction about his planet, and weird enough that coinciden es since I wanted to have a daughter someday. That is starting to make me feel weird how much me and BH how me and BH are so much similar... it could be coincidences, but it scares the fuck out of me how much this happends. I dunno, maybe I overthinking this, but damn it's so fucking weird I hope somebody got this feeling with any character from anywere just to calm me down that this is slighty normal to feel(? We even share the trauma of feeling ded already fkn hell

I don't think it's that weird - sure, it isn't particularly common, but I've also ended up liking characters who end up sharing very extreme similarities to myself (mostly personality ones) in the past. I feel like most times, your favorite characters tend to be your favorite (rather you're aware of it or not )do to some kind of similar aspects you share with them.

He is partially illiterate; He can read, but it seems he can not write Considering the background he grew up in its actually not that surprising Reading is considered more essential than writing So usually parents teach their children how to read and then leave the learning how to write to teachers - but boothill didn't get any proper education in a school setting so Yeah Partial illiteracy

You dont need to do any quest in order to get the message You need to have boothill in your account because you will only receive messages from the character you own It isn't very consistent, though, cause I have heard some people don't get the messages despite having the unit, so I'm not really sure

You don't get his messages until you beat an certain part of the game. I got messages from other characters who I never gotten yet (bronya for example). I also got the characters who I never met in game yet (boothill. Another example.) and haven't gotten to penacony yet. They don't text you if they don't know you

That's a good question - I know Pier point is an actual location in game (it's the headquarters of the IPC) I wouldn't really know unfortunately since I'm unfamiliar with gtao
