who would down rate this video?.. this is the most thorough and honest video you will find online for this product. You guys do know you are rating the video not the product, right? As for the Evo 8, I bought this product and love it. I seen reviews that complained that the jacks where loose. I think Audient may of taken note of that and improved on the build quality. When it came to the Evo-8 I own, it feels pretty solid to me and doesn't wiggle like was shown in videos I have seen. Color changing LEDs was a missed opportunity for this device and I am sure they won't make that mistake in a future iteration. I wish there was an option to disable the override to the monitor outputs when connecting a headphone. I wish i could leave all my cables connected and control disconnects through the software only. Otherwise its such a great product at its price point especially when considering the quality of the pre-amps.

I know this video is from awhile ago but I wanted to let anyone know, who may be on the fence about getting the EVO 8, to do it! It was my best purchase last year and being able to easily swap between custom gain setting and mics is amazing! Especially how often I swap from loud character work like screaming bloody murder to commercial and E-Learning work every day. I don't even have the interface within my booth. I keep it outside and just use the Mixer software for everything. Thanks for the review Mike! It helped me a lot with my decision.

Is there a reason one would want to get a small interface like the EVO8, rather than using an actual mixer? I just got an A&H ZEDi 10FX, because I can use it for when I host karaoke or run sound for small bands, but it also works as an interface for recording. I did see a couple features that I would like; such as mute buttons and the software that saves your settings, but is there anything else that an interface would provide that my mixer won't? By the way, sorry for my ignorance. My experience is in live productions, which I haven't been able to do this year because of Covid. I figure it's a good time to start working toward my lifelong goal of doing voiceovers.

Its unfortunate that your headphones and your speakers can't be hot at the same time. Incase you are using this with an engineer or someone in the studio editing who needs to hear your reads at the same time. I guess you could set up a situation where your engineer could use the monitor feature in reaper to hear it through separate headphones if needed? Not really sure how that would work

I do small voiceover works on the side, once a month or so. I use only 1 condenser microphone. So EVO 8 is overkill for me. But i still enjoy learning about it. I plan to buy ID4 or ID 14, maybe SSL2. i'm not quite sure so far.

Will this Evo 4 provide me with a mono output. I ask that because I currently had a Focusrite Solo 3rd Gen and when I go live on FB or just record in Quicktime the sound only comes out the left side. I understand that this happens due to the Focusrite Solo considers input 1 (XLR) to be the left channel and the other input (1/4 inch) to be the right channel. Now this would be an easy fix in post with any DAW because I can process the final output in Mono however because I go live and I dont have the option to fix in post. Therefor every time I go live I get stuck with the audio only coming out of the left side as I only have the mic in input 1 (XLR). So my question is would the Evo 4 input 1 (XLR) only record to the left side/channel during recoding or going live or will it record to both the left and right sides?
@DarrinLin3 жыл бұрын
I actually hate that it's a long press to mute/unmute. There's enough space for dedicated mute toggle for each channel. Don't know why that's not included.
@BradHoytMusic3 жыл бұрын
Most interfaces like this don't even have a mute option, so can't complain too much.

@@BradHoytMusic I feel like it’s a missed opportunity. Also last night I tried to update firmware on windows for my Evo 4 and it just got stuck. I searched online and they said it’s an issue with Windows?? Anyway I updated on my MacBook instead but it’s these small issues that annoy me the most as a casual user.
@BradHoytMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@DarrinLin My guess is that adding extra mute buttons would have added to the cost and they thought the trade off was not worth it. Also, that sucks about the firmware! I just received the Evo 8 and haven't set it up yet. Looks like I might want to set it up on my work MAC so I don't the firmware update goes through before using it on my personal PC laptop...
@DarrinLin3 жыл бұрын
@@BradHoytMusic yeah it would have sucked so much to be without a mic input while waiting for support to reply. Imagine if I didn’t have a spare Mac laying around to do this. There’s nowhere to download the latest firmware directly either, you have to use the Evo program to do it. I think that’s just odd. From now on tho I’m paranoid about updating it.

My problem is neighbours, they can here me singing and I am load. I practice 2 hours. So I must make it silent outside -not totally there are the normal walls too. Inside that I need treatment. At least for a hyper cardioid mic or a SM57. I have large diaphragm but how will they react. I had your TLM103 before an that bastard is unforgiving. Maybe I should make a video? Im very skeptical that an aio like this is a better idea than a series of seperate devices that each do their own job well. So having an audio interface like the id4 going to a pc and a mixer and then having the mixer run to headphones and your monitors. Its less simple but it means you can tailor it to your exact setting

Wonderful review! Very interesting audio interface. What about the differences between id14 mkii and EVO 8 in terms of converters and preamps quality, as well as the software stability? The only reason why I would like to have it is that it has four input preamps, but at the same time it doesn't have a DA expansion, that's a pity! Does the converters's quality could justify the charge of 50 bucks's price for the id14 mkii, considering that the EVO 8 has also 2 more mic preamps?

Hi. I was wondering, I have an audient evo 8, and i have it hooked up via PC with studio monitors connected in "1" with TRS cables in the back, and headphones connected to "1" in the front. I have a mic hooked up to "1" on the left back and a keyboard plugged in the back on the left in "2". I tried recording, and everything was recorded fine. However, while I'm playing the keyboard and even the mic, I can't hear anything back. I even tried unplugging my headphones to see if I can hear them through my studio monitors and nothing comes out. I can't figure this out as I've always used Focusrite. Audient Evo seems a bit harder to figure out. I even tried plugging my headphones into my studio monitors and still nothing comes out. But when I record, it plays back
