How to fully dismantle and clean a Dyson DC40 dust cannister

No messing around, this is the way to take a Dyson DC40 Upright cannister to pieces for cleaning, do not try to wash it without taking it apart completely or you will clog up the insides with wet goo.
It is not difficult to take apart but it takes patience!

Thanks for the video. I just needed access to the mesh that needed cleaning. I didnt brave going any further, but a clean mesh makes a big difference.

Your video helped me understand the pre-load required on the long spring to keep the red flap trigger pushed outward, thanks! For me, I lost the little compression spring underneath the gray button. It must have spring off when I removed the upper canister the same way yours did at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="228">3:48</a>. The canister still functions regardless, although it's a bit awkward to re-attach during normal emptying. Cheers

My son and I really enjoy your videos Boots he is a vacuum fanatic and we've learnt loads from yourself on this channel! Usually an iphone, an old one, I got a better camera recently a zony zv1 so some videos are on that but it takes time to set up. The season is about to start again, Looking forward to the end of june, people are spring cleaning already and I have seen some good skips about!
