We say Bollocks for a variety of situations and descriptive purposes. Yes, it is a slang terminology for Balls/testicles, as in: "He's got some Bollocks on him, you wouldn't catch me fronting Mike Tyson and calling him an ugly little cunt!" It's also used as an expressive expletive when frustrated or angry, perhaps if you accidentally drop a baby down a well, you my just shout "Oh, Bollocks!" because you know this involves you having to climb down said well to retrieve the baby and you'll get wet and covered in shite, potentially, and this is highly inconvenient. Another usage is to describe someone talking nonsense. Used particularly freely when whatever Prime Minister or Parliamentary Cock-Nudger of the time is talking or making some sort of speech/public address, he/she will be casually commented upon as "Talking a load of old Bollocks!" Similar to "Bullshit", but it has a more personal venom to it. Although, if you were having it out with someone face to face and they were clearly lying to you about something, the similarity to"Bullshit" would come into play more clearly, as in: "That's Bollocks mate, and you fucking know it is!" It is spoken best, singularly, with more rapidity and emphasis/bluntness than how you guys are saying it - and it certainly would never have the same effectiveness if used with a 'Southern style' drawn out drawl, as "Bullshit" can be; Samual L Jackson comes to mind, for example. (*Although, an exception to that in the UK would be when the Welsh say it, using English but with their accent*) It would never be used in any 'cool' kind of way, it's not a 'cool' word. It's reserved for it's intended 'punch' - outside of it's similitude to 'Testicles', that is.. It's a lovely little word, concise and neat and subconsciously known in it's individual correct contextual sense in Great Britain.
