Nice! I really like the Merlot-based Bordeaux wines, but you pay a premium for AOCs like St. Emilion and Pomerol. I need to try some of these lesser known Bordeaux regions!

I do like righ bank stuff as well. These are worth seeking out although I also think there is nice stuff to be had in St Emilion.

Interesting seeing 2019 being so approachable and good . I had a dirt cheap 2019 Bordeaux recently and it was surprisingly good and ready , says a lot of about the 2019 vintage . Just imagine the other wines that are $10-$20 more in prices. Can't wait

Absolutely agree, Bordeaux offers some of the greatest value when it comes to red wine! And even a lesser wine for about 5-7 euros can be aged really nicely for many years, which is quite rare IMO

@@jurajbrugos1093 not an easy question without knowing your preferences in wine :) Some recommendations: do not miss Tokaji aszú, it can be truly great, try Oremus for example; or at least taste Tokaji Szamorodni (Gizella and Balassa are outstanding yet well priced). Red wines: try the local varieties kadarka and kékfrankos, these are a bit lighter in style, not too far from pinot. Dry whites: I would say start with Tokaj again, there are tons of very good producers (Gizella, Kikelet etc). If you visit Budapest, there quite some wine bars, you can get guidance there, too

When looking for affordable Bordeaux, I used to go for Côtes de Bourg (majority of Merlot) and Fronsac (majority of Cabernet Franc). I haven't explored these wines for a while so I don't know where they currently stand from a QPR point of view. I don't think I ever had any Côtes de Castillon.

Lots of nice bordeaux out there at around $20 Fronsac and satellite appellations of St. Emilion Merlot and Cab Franc dominant Left bank some nice Haut Medocs in particular those estates with owners of other classified growths Senejac (Talbot) and Beaumont (Beychevelle) same winemaking team and more capital investment I also like Lanessan it has a little more structure probably more age worthy

I think Cru Bourgeois is where it's at in terms of QPR in Bordeaux. They have to submit their wines every year to keep the qualification. You have to be serious to keep doing that. No hiding your mistakes.

@@BigBobDookie thanks for your reply! That's what I found: "The new Crus Bourgeois du Médoc classification introduces a significant change to the annual quality procedure established in 2010. The châteaux are now classified for a period of five years. The 2020 classification classifies properties for the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 vintages." There are three categories: Cru Bourgeois Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel The Bourgeois classification is somehow the little brother of the Grand Cru classification from 1855
