Bordeauxdog met 18 pups in Deest

DEEST - Donderdag waren ze voor het eerst buiten: de 18 pups van bordeauxdog Dakisha. De rashond van kennel Red Beauty van Marion Arnts uit Deest beviel op 11 september van maar liefst 19 pups, een zeer uitzonderlijk hoog aantal.
Volgens Arnts haalt ze daarmee het Guinness Book of Records. Gemiddeld bevalt dit ras van 8 pups. Eén van de pups in Deest overleed vrij snel. De oorzaak weten ze niet zeker, maar ze vermoeden dat een teveel aan melk fataal is geworden.
Het is overigens niet ongebruikelijk dat er zelfs al bij een nest van normale grote een paar pups overlijden. Wat dat betreft gaat het juist erg goed met dit nest. Alle pups zijn even groot en gezond. Alle 18 zijn inmiddels ook al verkocht.

What age do the pups start over-salivating? I noticed how clean the puppies are and wonder if this trait doesn't begin until a certain stage of development. Thank you for posting. Beautiful puppies!
