Lucy was my BC's name too! She was a mix. I lost her in 2014. Watching this video reminds me of her. Thanks!

My aunt's Border Collie is going to have babies in a few weeks! When she does, she'll let me take one back to my home in the US! (I am currently visiting her in Vietnam :D) Watching this video makes me excited to train it! So cute, ya know... thanks for demonstrating. It would help, because I've never had a dog before. (And I'm 10 and a half!) It's just my mom didn't approve. Anyway, thanks a whole handful! :D

Well done! Good job, both of you! Border collies are the smartest dogs on earth, seriously. But... they also demand a lot of dedication. One cannot imagine to have such a dog and leave him alone all day, then come home and ignore the dog. They would get totally depressed and be unhappy, maybe become destructive by chewing up furniture or other compensatory activities. It would be so unfair to such a smart dog, and also heartless, or ignorant, or even emotionally cruel, on the part of the owner. So unless you are willing to handle an active dog who asks to learn constantly and needs to be active a lot, do yourself and the dogs a favor and buy some other dog, like a poodle, maybe,... just not a working breed kind of dog! I am saying this, because dogs are living creatures, with a heart, a mind and feelings. They are very loyal, and they deserve to be treated like a full family member, not like a toy or an after thought.

I have a 11 month old Border Collie in training. She already does some of the tricks shown on your video. How long did it take to train your Border Collie?

I don't know if that should be a goal - most people shouldn't have them.

Our faithful BC through 15 years passed away three months ago, and only the last 1-2 years was he actually calm and cuddly like a labrador or something. "Selected ADHD" I called him:-) But great dogs, obviously.

Yes, just like for us humans... we don't get everything down right on first try either! Do things playfully, that is very important, and patience! Border Collies are "kids" for a long time, about the first three years... they need the playfulness to grow into balanced adults. Good luck!
