Күн бұрын

We are surrounded by people and devices who regularly serve as distractions. Rarely do we have time to be bored. How could boredom serve as a source of imagination? How can we create opportunities to be bored? Hans Wilhelm uses his own art work to illustrate the possibilities for using boredom as a source of inspiration!
With over forty two million books in print, Hans Wilhelm is one of America's foremost author/illustrator of children's books. Many of his 200 books have been translated into twenty languages and have become successful animated television series that are enjoyed by children all over the world. His books have won numerous international awards and prizes.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

He is right. Our generation is sitting here watching others do and create and experience things which we are also capable of doing and creating and experiencing. Instead we choose to just sit in front of a screen and watch others live thier lives. How insane is that? Instead of watching others (even fictional characters) live thier lives, go out and create your own life.

I wish to God my dysfunctional son, who is almost 33, would stop mindlessly watch TV programs over and over to stop his anxiety, would even watch these short talks! If anyone had any ideas, I’d appreciate it! He lives with his father in a depressing household. 😢 PS ...He’s also had brain trauma from meningitis and encephalitis at age 7 from which he almost died, many losed head injuries, addictions, and can’t hold down a job.

I did a similar method but with headaches not boredom in 1989....and after a year of practicing my 'method' never got an headache again....the ability to eradicate head pain somehow became spontaneous. Also a couple of years ago I got flu. Delving (feeling) into the aches and pains within my body and how uncomfortable my whole body was; doing thiis with total love and acceptance it then changed thr feeling into a beautiful and blissful experiance.

I’d love to know how you did this, exactly. I suffer from a genetic degenerative disc disease, for which there is no cure, among a lot of other things. I’ve tried to get rid of these things by meditation, without as much success as I’d like. Thanks for any feedback!!
