Boris Karloff - An Old Time Radio Collection

This is a collection of Boris Karloff's appearances on radio dramas back in the 1940s.
There are two productions of The Doctor Prescribed Death. One stars Karloff and one stars Lugosi. Looks like I included the wrong one. Sorry. Enjoy Lugosi's performance anyway because he didn't appear on radio very often.

It takes me back as a Kid listening to the Radio before we got a T V it was a ////////wonderful time life not like today so I'll sit back and Enjoy

I finally know what Shemp Howard was referencing in the Three Stooges short "The Ghost Talks" when he was goofing around and referred to himself as "Desmond of the Outer Sanctorum."

I know what you’re referring to. Pretty funny huh? I love these old scary radio shows. Imagine being a kid lying on the floor in front of the radio listening to these old shows. Gloriously fun!!

Thank you, I will check your channel out... I love dramatized audio books and old time radio stories of all kinds, but in particular mysteries and about anything in the British mystery vein, like Sherlock and others up to the more modern stories like Midsomer Murders.. I am always searching the above mentioned out... OK, I'm off to look at ALL of your offerings... :-)

Hello BIG E,,,, I just got a notice of you posting to a comment of mine... I just wanted to let you know that there seems to be a problem with KZfaq... BUT,,, that is nothing unusual... Your reply is under a young persons screen name of ""kitty baby""... Your comment starts by you using the name ""kitty"", so I assume you intended the comment to be for ""kitty"... Why my KZfaq name appears at the start of your comment, only THEY,YT, may or may not be able to explain... Probably, they will not be able to explain, as for some time now it seems that GOOGLE has turned the asylum over to the inmates and nothing seems to be working properly... Ok, 90% of this version of the tell-tale heart was not in Poe's original story, but it is actually a very insightful inference from it, in my opinion.

Why on Earth did they rewrite "The Tell Tale Heart?" I would have loved to hear Karloff read Poe's original words. I have heard many old time radio adaptations of classic stories in which the producers had the writers create a story that wasn't altered simply to fit the time slot, or work better in audio form, but rather an entirely different story, bearing little resemblance to the original. Mr22thou as a child, i was slow at learning how to read. When it finally did catch on i made a point of reading difficult material like the 1611 King James Bible, and... you guesses it, Edgar Allan Poe. Funny enough, you know who my other reading influence was? It was Gary Gygax! The 1st Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Master Guide... OMW i poured through that thing many times as i learned how to read. I was that kid in school that was always stupid about what was hip, and so being armed with the vocabulary of the 1611 Bible, Edgar Allen Poe, and Gary Gygax gave me a sense of confidence. And trust me, while many tried to imitate it, none could even come close to replicate it :) They had not fought that same battle i had, and they could not relish that same victory over the bullies and nay sayers :) But you know what, Mr22thou, my first public reading, at 6th grade was the TellTale Heart, as Poe wrote it.

What in the name of crap is this? Why is it titled after a Poe story? This is like a literary crime. What in the HELL is this weird, absolutely unrelated story?? •Tell-Tale Heart• has been dramatized *a lot.* It's been done well; it's been done poorly I love Poe as an author and he gets butchered a lot. This is weird it's all rewritten. This is a bad dramatization for that reason.
