Cheech Marin, writes, directs and stars in Born In East L.A., a hip, outrageous comedy that's more timely than ever. The story follows Rudy (Marin), an American of Hispanic descent, whose south-of-the-border looks show him no mercy during an immigration raid in a migrant worker factory. As his luck goes, he is caught with neither money nor his ID and is deported to Mexico - without speaking a word of Spanish! Speech-less. Reagan was a dickhead, to say the very least. I was born that very year (regret it still). He was a dickhead to anyone that wasn't "living the dream," in places like Hinsdale, Wheaton, Barrington, Beverly Hills, Malibu, and the list goes on. Whoever voted in the '84 election were a bunch of dickheads too. If only the other party had a better candidate (also a factor). The 80s weren't that great, on some levels.

He was basically telling him that he’s acting like a lost child like a lost child in a airport far from home in a unfamiliar place that he is scared and being dramatic and stop crying which is ironic because he is lost in a unfamiliar place and he’s never been there in Mexico before and is freaking out that he wants to get back home to his hometown

It happened a few times here in Arizona where I live during the Sb 1070 years where Mexicans were being pulled over constantly and profiled. They deported a teen girl who was working at a fast food joint and a son and father who were working on a farm. They sued and became millionaires.

@@michael85225 It happens a lot in DuPage County, IL every day. Usually by local and county police. I cannot wait to GTFO out of there. Fine example of a place that acts like it is utopia, but isn't. If your name isn't Emily, Alice, Dick/Richard, or Caleb...if your skin's color, personality, etc. aren't "white as milk/snow," the icing melts off their cake.

In 2019 you go to jail for repeated illegal reentries. In 85 the old INS would just deport you and you'd try again until you made it. The 96 immigration law under bill Clinton criminalized repeat illegal entry and started putting up the border wall.

@@Rahab111222 The Clinton era was the last, greatest time period ('93-early '01). I grew up then too, so it's as if, the older I got, the less fun I had. We had everything going for us under Clinton. Best example, our cities. NYC, the south, and the east (especially) were in their worst shape (when this movie was made). Even Chicago(land) was a crap hole. Clinton (and the mayors in office, of that era) cleaned up our cities.

Sadly, I could see this happening. Leave legal Mexican American citizens alone. No police stops for no reason, no background checks ect. As long as people have a legal ID that should be enough. They should get the same treatment as me or anyone else.
