Actually, Fogarty tuned his guitar to D, then played the E chord. You teach it very well, thank you.

@@dizzywilliams3557 Yes, but if you don't have perfect pitch you don't hear the difference, you just see an E chord and assume it's so. My friend said I don't understand why his E sounds like a D and that's when I understood.

Finally, someone who has it right. I've been playing that E7 up at the 5th fret forever and nobody else's lessons have it. Great job. (I got stuck on that sliding 7th long ago watching George Harrison)

You play the A-shape D chord at the 5th fret, which is the D note 5th fret 5th string and barring 4/3/2 at the 7th fret. Then just slide down to an open position A chord and finish on an open position E chord. The reason I called them "power chords" is you really only need to play the top two strings of each chord, which are the root and 5th (that's the definition of a power chord).
@Rickholly74
@Rickholly74 12 жыл бұрын
Thanks.I have always played it like you (and John).I don't play it with pick and finger I have always blocked the G string just naturally with my middle finger and strangely I play up strokes to get closer to the sound on those notes it's just the way I have always done it.I too have seen John play up close and you are right about the pick and finger. John isn't completely tied to the same way each time he plays it.Always close but never 100% like the record.Some much with so little.

Thank you for sharing. I am proud for figuring the first run the same as you. But the dyads I have been learning as of late. Primarily on the 2nd and 3rd strings. But you have opened my blind eyes to your "movable chord shapes on the 2nd and 4th. Who knew? Not me anyway. At the power chord run, I just play D A E regular. Either way is OK. Fogerty certainly was innovative with his sound.. Particularly at the time it was produced. Thank you for sharing.
