Wynema Cantrell - really? I thought it was by far the least entertaining and the most staged and completely fake in pretending there was some sort of progressive independence happening. I mean it was funny for megan and Rachel to stare at each other in silence after saying "yep, here we are. Living together." But sad that Rachel felt pressure to look like she was somehow magically becoming independent at 36 when she wasn't from 0-35. I mean I love seeing Rachel get on the bus to kindergarten- I mean her job - but let's get real, Rachel WILL NEVER BE INDEPENDENT. In season 1, all the normal parents and siblings agreed their DS adult could NEVER be independent. Mostly b/c of them all lacking the ability to even comprehend money, let alone count it. And also because they have no ability to get anywhere on their own. Even if it's close they get hopelessly lost. Why do you think Rachel's "special work bus" came DIRECTLY TO THE FRONT OF HER HOUSE? B/c Rachel would probably get lost and die of starvation if she had to walk a block to meet the bus somewhere other than right outside her front door.

So, then you are admitting that the parents of every cast member said in season 1 that there was no way ANY of the cast would EVER be able to actually take care of themselves? Just think about that. Think about how SUPER SIMPLE it is just to have the ability to stay alive without needing help from more intelligent humans. Basically any human with a normal brain can stay alive on their own, but every single cast member would starve to death or get hit by a car if left to defend for themselves for more than a few hours. So I guess it's great to support the "dreams" of your child. But is it REALLY "supporting" your childs Dream - or is it supporting their own need to believe their child has value?

You seem to hate these people who are so loving and caring. And to mock them the way you do is dispicable. I'm a person who grew up poor, fatherless, am low on the economic scale, have a history of hard work and few luxuries in life...yet I can still appreciate these loving and respectful people and want the best for them, even if its more than what I have. They are not responsible for my pain and hardships and neither any one elses. This show makes me smile from ear to ear and warms my heart. I don't mind that some of my taxes go towards helping people who even when they do their best still need help. It's called being human.

Aquarius Lady - I definitely don't hate ANY disabled. And WHO could hate DS people? They are HYSTERICALLY disabled!!! By far the most ADORABLE disability. Just their adorable speech impediments and how they are exactly like toddlers can be hilarious. I mean how funny is it that Megan will take credit ALL DAY LONG for the business her mom and aunt KILL THEMSELVES just trying to keep up with? And the adorable, HILARIOUS part is that megan is so mentally handicapped, that even though she can't figure out the right way to put batteries in fake candles, she will tell ANYONE who will listen that she is THE GREATEST business owner to ever be born!!! And we get to laugh our asses off watching Megan do nothing but sleep all day and do so little that she just sits around eating potato chips, talking out loud to herself about how amazing she knows herself to be. I also appreciate the little things - like how greasy and uncombed Megan's hair gets when you can tell her mom didn't have the energy to give Megan a bath every night - just exactly like if she were 4yrs old. THAT'S what I loved about the show at first. That leaps n boundz IS EXACTLY like a daycare center for toddlers in their 20's and 30's! You can just see all the hard work the parents have to do to get their toddler ready for daycare, and they gotta drop them off on their way to work. It's just so cool that they have a daycare center for them all to be able to play together and do watercolor painting and make arts and craft to bring home to show their parents, etc.

Aquarius Lady - and I'm not really sure how your crappy childhood that morphed into your disappointing adulthood has anything to do with how much funding DS people deserve. I for one am in support of their funding. I think OTHER less adorable disabilities deserve the same funding though. And what DOES UPSET ME, is how Shawn's mom acts like her son doesn't get ENOUGH free money, despite getting FREE healthcare for life, lifetime disability benefits, lifetime free public housing, a state funded live-in nanny, other state paid aids to drive him and to hold his hand, and the free money his mom was entitled to spend on teaching him how to use a toilet, since for DS people it's a very hard concept to learn. And you have a 7 or 8 year old Shawn, with his mom forcing the school to babysit him in normal classes, but he's still wearing diapers. Don't ACT like the disability is a minor thing that just means they need a little more time. It's NOTHING like that. Shawn WILL NEVER be able to stay alive without paid help. He doesn't have the mental ability to live alone EVER. I'm not saying that's a bad thing - but be honest about it. Don't beg for money and then act like your DS son lives on his own and is super independent. Why doesn't the show film ALL nannies and aids that bring the cast everywhere and feed them, etc? The irresponsible LIES the show promulgates is the reason POOR Rocco was traumatized when the show filmed him getting off the bus. His mom was embarrassed that Rocco HAS NEVER gone down a step. He also can't speak a single word. But because Shawn's mom had made her delusional about Rocco's condition, she FORCED Rocco to "walk" down the bus steps, moving each leg with her own hands while he cried. B/c a film crew was there and she couldn't just accept that her son cannot do things that are simple for other children his age. And he's not gonna be able to care for himself - the same way none of the cast care for themselves. And the cast is the best possible outcome. Shawn's mom admits that he can't read or write, that he can't take care of himself and that he can't do anything without all his paid aids. And that he NEEDS MORE FREE MONEY. But at the same time, ruined the show by trying to make the cast seem WAAAAY more independent than they are. And LIED by pretending each new season meant MORE advances and more independence for the cast. Even though the first 34 years of Rachel's life, her level of independence stayed the same, once the show starts, all of a sudden, each year she has to pretend she can do more than before. THAT is another BAD thing about the show. These poor mentally handicapped adults feel pressured to pretend they are "fowowing dare dweems" and becoming more independent. So to make their adult child, who is super stressed, but super limited mentally and physically, feel like she's "gwowing up and becoming independent", the parents of Rachel rented her a pretend house to pretend to be independent in. And Megan was so hysterically mentally disabled that she totally acted like she'd be fine without her mom, yet RAN TO HER MOMMY THE SECOND HER MOMMY LEFT. But then acted like it's HER MOM that isn't ready to live without her, not that she's so mentally disabled that she can't dress herself. She's in her twenties but holds her mom's hand EVERYWHERE they go, like if she were 3yrs old. And Rachel and Megan were about as NOT INDEPENDENT as anyone could possibly be living in a different house than their parents. Their parents acted like they were leaving 2 toddlers home alone and were super scared they'd open the door for a stranger and get kidnapped. Not exactly how you'd treat your 36yr old adult daughter. Besides that, EVERYTHING was done for them and pre made for them. So all the beds were made, everything put away, meals pre made to be heated back up. Which is why you saw that ALL that Rachel and Megan did was watch movies, sleep, and eat the food left for them. They couldn't clean. They didn't DO ANYTHING work related. You got to see a bus COME DIRECTLY TO RACHEL'S FRONT DOOR to take her to her pretend big girl job that is really 1.5hrs/day. And who do you know gets a bus directly to their door? Only someone so mentally disabled that they would get lost walking to the end of the block. So someone like Rachel. All Rachel and Megan did was sit and stare at each other in a huge house that neither could live in independently. Rachel was ADORABLE with her backpack getting up early for kindergarten.

Because I dared point out obvious truths and obviously deceitful and harmful things Shawn's mom does? There is a reason that the entire world's medical society ALL agree that it is better to screen for and eliminate Down syndrome from the population before they are born and have to live a VERY limited life, requiring massive amounts of help with basic things their entire lives. Sure, it's hilarious watching shawn tell us he is really enjoying getting pounded doggy style by a goat. But is it really the best thing for someone as mentally disabled and fragile as shawn to let him gain 50 pounds and get a huge ego because he thinks he's famous. That poor boy is going to be so sad when someone finally tells him the tv show is over. In his mind he thought it would go on forever. And why wouldn't he, he's very very disabled. It's why people like his mother should be protecting him, not forcing him to beg for money every chance he gets to be on tv. So please, pray for shawn, he needs it ALOT more than me. Obviously I'm lucky enough to be very healthy and actually intelligent enough to learn to read and even go to a Real university- not my Mommy's church that I think is a college b/c my mommy lies to me about almost everything to help my self esteem. Pray for Shawn - he has to have that mother for life, and he's someone that really needs people to lookout for him. You understand why he is the way he is when you see he never had a chance with Sandra for a mother. He isn't as Lucky as Rachel. So please, I really don't think you should waste time wishing for things. I personally go out and do things for myself. But if prayer helps you, then do it for yourself. But your veiled narcissistic idea that praying for me helps anyone but yourself is obvious to most.

kim blake they are just like everyone else they cook they clean they learn by seeing what their parents do. If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all I am a mother to a autistic child they are like everyone else too just because they have a disability doesn’t mean they are stupid they are very smart people so please be nice!

I think they discussed that briefly in another episode & I don't think they want kids. Being married doesn't automatically mean they will have kids.
