I am an after school counselor and one of my 18 love bugs has downs. He is the slickest silliest little helper and even tho he’s a sneaky trouble maker for giggles he truly is an awesome little guy. I’ve know him for a short time but he’s taught me so much. We treat him just like every body else and he understands everything nearly the same. It’s been an interesting yet fun journey.

That first couple that woman that talked, her husband finished what she had to say by saying, "yep". Nice input.

In Shawn's last KZfaq video his mommy drove him around in the car, and it was so adorable how excited just riding in the car made him. It reminded me about the scene in Secret Life of Pets 2, and how excited all the dogs were JUST to be riding in a car. Lol. Also, it was so adorable how sweet and simple Shawn is still even being almost 30. It was so cute how he asked his mommy about wanting to go play with Rocco (I believe he's like 6 with DS) and roccos toddler sibling who is maybe like 3. How cute is it that a 30yr old man truly loves playing with toddlers. It's so adorable to see how all 3 are mentally in the same place, so they enjoy playing together. I mean of course the normal siblings will be too advanced to play with Shawn in a few yrs, but he'll always be able to go "play" with Rocco, even when he's in a nursing home in his 50's. Although, I'm not sure how the alzheimers effects their playing (about half of people with DS develop early onset dementia in their 50'e). Born This Way never talked about the fact half the cast would get dementia in their 50's, but the show wasn't really about discussing the tough REAL difficulties of having DS. As the show went on, it became more and more just propaganda for pretending that positive thinking could overcome a genetic handicap that resulted in severe life long mental and physical disabilities...

Gary? No that was him finishing his sentence about Rachel. How she'd say "Okay we're done" as a response to anything not understood to her like the details of having an extra chromosome. And thats not his wife.

Rachel was in special ed and can read perfectly. Shawn was in normal classes and is basically illiterate. Even now when his mommy asks him to read a sign all he can read is a number on the sign.

It's not just that it takes them longer to learn. The point is there are things they will NEVER have the ability to learn. So it's not that it takes them longer, its that they have a ceiling and limitations.

The arab was the only smart person in that room, even if the things he came up with can be thought up by an average, intelligent human being, but it requires thinking. The rest were offering disney-like "Live, laugh and love" kind of advice. This man gave the solution. It's saddening to see how clueless people are becoming, further we go into the future, despite now having the infinite possibilities to do our own research, and get our answers, thanks to the internet. I mostly see this idiocy in America only though, due to the brainwashing and killing the intelligence of the people slowly. You don't know what you're doing, you're dissolving U.S.A slowly with these PC Culture, modern feminism (Communism) and other "Good" causes, that are just creations of our twisted nature, and our fantasies. If you are one of these people, you are not living in reality, you are living in a conjured world, ideal world that cannot exist. Excuse my english, I was never teached the universal language. I learned it mainly from playing games and watching movies.
