The Hopewell Jazz Band dates back two generations: while a student at Hopewell, its current musical director played trumpet with the band, which was founded and directed by her mother. The band features grade 8 students from Hopewell who like to jam - though most started playing their instruments just one year ago - and they only practice twice a week throughout the school year. This is their first year entering the Canadian Music Class Challenge, and they could not be more excited! The musicians could not resist dressing up as wild animals, as the piece they selected demonstrates that they really are, “Born to be Wild”.
