Statistically, more accidents resulting in a need to go to the hospital happen inside the home than they do in adventure programs

Plus, if you count the accidents that happen to kids who did adventure programs and the kids with helicopter parents and weird safety paranoia, you can see that the kids who experienced nature and were treated like responsible and reasonable human beings have far less accidents than the other.. :)

@@mariapalladino2473 I know, I thought that was really funny... the teacher just calmly said that the only injury he'd ever seen was when the parent ran over the child's foot. The interviewer was just digging and digging trying to find an accident! That teacher seemed so great with the kids. Really outstanding.

I love this! Today's kids have too much structure--and I don't mean discipline. Everything targeted at kids has a very specific purpose in that they are told exactly what to do w/it. But in the forest, it's up to them to decide what something means and how to enjoy it. If it's a log, they decide if it's something to balance on, sit on, chop up, whatever. But if it's a specific manufactured toy, it has a specific purpose. I also think the forest eliminates fear and fosters self confidence. Plus, and this bugged me as a kid, it allows kids to play alone, in small groups or in big groups. Not every kid is mentally wired for sports and the team/group culture that schools put so much emphasis on--and if you're not a team/group person, you're a freak. Well, not everybody is one and some kids like to be alone at times or w/just one or two others.

And.... If a tree grows on the playground at a public school in the USA they are cut down. For safety reasons! We have gone too far to protect not only the kids but our schools from lawsuits. Sad.

This is how my childhood was! My mother would lock me out of the house from four years old on and I would hang out in my backyard in the mini forest my father had planted! Sh gave me a bucket to pee in. Of course I would not recommend that she was being mean but it made me who I am and gave me great strength!I climbed trees and when I got older I went to the nearby woods. I loved it and felt at home and happy! I jumped over rocks was good at creek walking and rock skimming! My balance was impeccable! I went on to study nature and worked in several parks too! I would not have traded that for the world!

I remember I had to go the kindergarten for a few months or so and I HATED it, I cried every morning and did not do well academically at all. Luckily we moved to live in the village.There I was free to play in mud, climb trees, roofs, hills, play with fire, knifes and all kinds of animals since the age of 5. I was friends with everyone while in the kindergarten I was bullied. And when it was time to go to school I was at the top of my class. I've been participating and winning all kinds of competitions since primary school. So getting out of that jail called kindergarten was THE BEST thing that ever happened to me! :) Sorry for any mistakes, I'm still learning English :)

not exactly true denmark,germany,norway,sweden,finland we all have this way of life because this is how we always lived our ancestors lived like this unspoiled by rotten goods and one with nature and our civilizations outdate those of most of the civilized west ,living this way builds character,makes you a stronger person,instead of all the special snowflakes these days with their nonsense and stupid iphones and superficial instagram pictures 10.000 a month just to get attention from some online creeps,we go out we explore we learn about REAL life and learn REAL values of things actually important to humankind,being stuck in a classroom repeating some words doesn't help kids and how are you gonna survive by learning nothing ? these amazing kindergartens would even be better if they implement how to build a house and no not a giant brick house but like a shelter for when you get lost in the woods. thoussands of little children get lost each day in the world,they get zero education on survival in the real world i believe this is amazing.also it makes me giggle how all these people are like kids and knifes D: ? waaaaah heck i had a swiss army knife when i was 4 i made spears for entertainment see who can throw the most far away and how to make a campfire all basic things we need to survive when the chance happens to be there that we actually need it.

Yes, make friends. Until 'progression' robbed us away of that knowledge it a quarter of decade ago.

This is amazing to me how we come up with the term, "Forest Kindergarten." My early years were like this through natural play with the neighbor kids. We played in forests, trees, streams, etc. It makes me sick that people are so disconnected from the natural world that they think of this as so "out there." Humanity is so ill. And then the academics think they are so innovative because they do "studies" on this and find that it's a good thing. Duh. They come up with language for things that we know by instinct and claim it as their discovery or their invention or that they are so smart because they coined a phrase. What a bunch of assholes. Just get outside and stop making a big deal out of it.
@MissMoontree
@MissMoontree 6 жыл бұрын
I do think a lot of people need to hear about "studies" to get convinced because it has become special. I've seen schoolyards change into less and less natural. Sand was considered the infection-devil and bushes had to go for "safety". It is truly sad that it had come this far.
@BlackKettleRanch
@BlackKettleRanch 6 жыл бұрын
I'm in full disagreement because when they do the studies, then they will control people through the studies and negate the parents' instincts. Just get out there and take some risks and take responsibility for what ever happens. If you're not sure about something, like exposure to a certain planet, then look up the plant at the library and stop being such feeble wimps. Learn how to live.
@MissMoontree
@MissMoontree 6 жыл бұрын
I don't think studies are done to control people. In this case, it might be a good thing to have others confirm that this is okay. It may be a help for parents who are being called irresponsible for letting their child be. The researchers should not get credit for inventing it. And it shouldn't be revolutionary, but it has been forgotten.

I went to a forest kindergarden as well. When i started first grade, the teacher was a bit worried since me and my friend from kindergarden were the only two students that had been in a forest kindergarden. However, we turned out to be the most quite and "well-behaved" kids. Also, me and my friend got to stay one year longer in kindergarden, so we skipped the "pre-school". So i was 7 years old when i started in school. My theory is, that when you get to use all of your energy, you will be more ready for school. It helps to concentrate. Most forest kindergardens also teach basic things such as numbers, the alphabet, basic spelling and stuff life that, so they are not just a playground in a forest. :-)
