I bought it the same but everything on black, I really love it, to me the best strup is the original that comes with the watch.

Awesome review on the GBX-100! Thanks for bringing to light the lack of autoscroll on the coordinates without an app! Would you be reviewing the Lorus watch too? Looks like a digital Richard Mille 👍
@goatreviews7 ай бұрын
Thank you Gigachad! 🙏 Haha, all good. It needed to be said - and honestly Casio needs to address this one! Even if the limitation is to do with the refresh rate of the MIP display, there’s another workaround they could implement that would cut it down from 900 presses to 90! Just make it increments of 1 degree instead of 0.1! 😂 The difference in your coordinates would be so negligible, that it surely wouldn’t affect the Sunset graphs by more than a minute either way. 🤷🏻♂️ Yes it does look like one doesn’t it?! 😂 Negative, the Lorus is safely on its way back to RedWyvern! I figured I wouldn’t have enough time to do a full review of it, plus I didn’t want to deprive the owner of his awesome watches for any longer 😉

great job there with the nato strap , earlier when i saw the other video i felt that the folded nato strap on the watch made it look bulky and out of place, but with those connectors and the new strap you made it stand out

What special polarizing film was required to achieve the rainbow effect?

As a owner of the GBD200-9 I would like to add two frustrating points ! THE LED ! It turns off when you cycle a menu.... So you sit in the dark and want to start a stop watch ? Welp. After each press the screen will go off. And you will have to press the light button again to see if your now in the right mode. You cant see the past day steps. I want to be able to see how much steps I did yesterday for example. But no ! You need the app for that. Otherwise you can just see a % bar... Love the watch ! And also got the nato adapters on the way. BUT COME ON
@goatreviews7 ай бұрын
YES! 💯🙌 Thanks you raising these points, Ian! 👌 I noticed the backlight issue as well - Quite annoying indeed! In fact I find this to be the case with MOST Casio's, but having a dedicated backlight button should grant you IMMUNITY from this issue, by operating independently, right?! Man, I did not notice about not being able to retroactively check your steps without the app!... but you're right there too. Just another way for Casio to FORCE us to use the App I suppose 😂 Agree - Other than these nuances it's a great watch - and I am very happy with how the build turned out! 🤩 Hope yours goes similarly well with the NATO Adapters, my friend! 🙏

@@goatreviews I also don't know if you know about the hidden menu yet ? I saw it in a video and its pretty handy ! What you have to do : - press and keep holding top left button - now press and keep holding the lower left button - now give the bottom right button a short press while still holding the other two down. A menu will pop up with some test you can perform on the watch. And my favorite feature ? You can check BATTERY VOLTAGE in this menu ! 🤯 Oh for sure ! This has been my first G shock. And I am in love !!! Up until know I have had a Luminox 5127 (which I sold again, very cool blue tritium !) and a Swatch "sistem soul" (which sadly doesn't work anymore. But I still have.) Now I have been eying the Gshock GWG-1000-A3 👀. And might be buying it in a month or two. Never thought I would consider such a big watch. But I am geeking about all the functions xD
@goatreviews7 ай бұрын
@ianspy1 I only learned about it after asking the owner how he got the cool “G-Shock Logo” screen to show up for my unboxing video of this one! 😁 Super cool, right?! Awesome - I will need to spend some more time playing around with it on my GBD-200, and see if I can check the battery voltage 🔋 All I had a chance to do before I sent the GBX-100 back was set it into the logo screen. And man, I must admit I struggled to press that button combination to get it to work! Thanks for explaining it better, it looks like I was doing it incorrectly 🙏 Oooh, just looked up those models! 👀 Very cool - it’s a shame you sold that 5127! I bet you’re looking forward to the ultra-functional and beastly GWG-1000! 🤩

Hmmmm, not a great fan of NATO straps, expecially with G-Shocks, it makes it thicker than it is... But good choice between those 3 NATO's, probably the best colour scheme. And good choice for the adaptors too! ...I don't get the point to hydromod a watch like that, considering it will require a battery change every 1 year or 2 (depending if you use Bluetooth or not)... I can see the advantage on little and inexpensive watches like f-91W, but not on a G. Oh well, if he's happy with it, fair enough! 😄 You can use another app for the Bluetooth part (if you use an android phone), it's called Gadgetbridge, opensource and free. Some advantages: snappy, updated and you can set the repeat for the call alarms! (it will beep repeatedly whenever you receive a call). Ah, for the air bubble, some watchmakers leave intentionally a bubble in the watch (look U-Boat from Italo Fontana for example), so... You have a design watch 😄
@goatreviews7 ай бұрын
That’s a fair call, Bruno! I get what you mean about the thickness. Thank you! I’ve no regrets on the silver adapter - though it was a VERY close call with the orange strap 👌 This is a good point, too. You do have to consider the upkeep on a Hydro Modded watch. For me, this makes the ULTIMATE candidate a Tough Solar G-Shock, so I’d never have to open it again 🤩💭 Fascinating! Thank you for sharing this app. I do sometimes wish Apple were a little less restrictive with their apps. Having heard both sides of the ‘Air Bubble debate’, my preference remains to go bubble-less for aesthetic reasons. That is, until maybe one day if I ever face an issue caused by not having a bubble 😁 Thanks so much for weighing in with your well thought-out opinions! 🙏

Thanks for mentioning Gadgetbridge! I Wasn't aware of that alternative yet (while I do use similar apps like Solaar and KDE Connect). I'll keep using the official app for this piece as it works fine, has a good dark theme (unlike Casio Watches) and as Gadgetbridge doesn't support all features. As to why I've done the mods, I picked up this piece right after my GBD-100 got water-damaged after getting it's battery changed at a Casio shop (which I did to make sure it would be done right). This was repaired under warranty with no issue, but I picked up the GBX-100 as I've gotten quite fond of this module, despite the UI issues (which are worse in the newer, fancier variants, along with using a worse app). Only, this new GBX-100 got moisture behind it's gasket immediately, so I decided to just attempt the mod and see how it goes, documenting it online for other brave watch owners. The answer is disastrous, hence the need for the polariser replacement and replacing some bumpers and gaskets with 3D printed ones. The backlight colour filter change worked better with the original polarisers, where the contrast was more like the original piece. The NATO was added as the original strap didn't fit my skinny wrist and as originally it had a strong cigarette smell (which has off-gassed since). I tried jamming it in the 16mm slots to see how well that works, intending to 3D-print adaptors down the line. Which I didn't do as it was already on the second hole with this length taken out and felt comfortable to wear.

@@goatreviews I'm a bubbleless fan too, but, you know, let's see the good side of what we have! So... Go bubble, go! 🤣 For the hydromod on a solar model, there is a little chance to have to change the accumulator. It has never occured at me for now (and I own some solars from 10+ years), but it could happen...
@brunocraighero24607 ай бұрын
@@WyvernDotRed pal, really, you are out of luck with Casio watches! I've never had water or moisture even in 80's models, and I change the battery by myself... But, all in all, you have done a good work! And thanks for the explanation, now it all makes sense 💪🏻

is there any place that sells black screws for this watch?

Hmmmm, that could be a cool mod to do! 🤔💭 I’d consider having a look on AliExpress, it’s where I find most of my mod parts. It looks like they do sell caseback screws in general, but not sure if you could find black ones: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mr3Bh0K 📊 As an AliExpress Affiliate, I utilize Affiliate Links for this, and other Affiliate Programs. If you make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Your support is appreciated! 🙏

@goatreviews I was looking for the side screws, the ones that get visible when you are wearing the watch. Can't find it anywhere. Might paint them matte black with some metal paint :) thanks for having a look.

@@Mamajakas Oh! I’m sure they’d have the Side Screws too. These are the ones I used for my MR-G build (they are gold but also have black): geni.us/GOLDSCREWS Ideally you’d want to avoid painting them black, as it would wear off quite easily. In fact, even the properly coated ones will scratch off if you aren’t careful when unscrewing them 😁
